btw if anyone is interested this is what he said (WARNING only read the question if youve seen the latest episode, and be aware that just reading the question might lead to spoiler thoughts)

question:
as seen in the preview for the next episode, kuma is gonna split the crew up. when are they gonna get back together?

answer
they havent reunited yet in the manga. this bothers me because afaik manga's are usually a few years ahead of the anime. this means the crew will be splitted for a few years LOLWTF? this is why im asking how far the manga is ahead

Spoiler tags just in case -

I can confirm the truth in this (I read the manga). The anime isn't so far behind though - maybe ~20 episodes (just a guess). It's still brilliant though, don't worry.

If you enjoy stuff similar to Lucky Star, Chobits check out School Rumble, Azumanga Daioh, FMP: Fumoffu, GTO, etc. Also, you seem to have all Kyoto Animation's (good) works except Suzumiya Haruhi, so you might want to grab that as well.

Guin Saga ain't half bad, too bad not all episodes have been aired/subbed yet.

you guys should really stop  watching animes while they air and wait until they finish and properly watch them instead of weekly chunks. Plus you're probably watching some crappy speedsub, it takes a bit until decent groups do it.

#1146762 by DarkBobby (Centzon Totochtin) at 2009-06-17 21:21:22 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

It's a good thing you worry how we should watch anime series and go deciding what is the proper way to watch them.

I for one do not have the time to sit in front of TV five hours a day just to see 20 episodes of "insert-random-anime-here".

Most series are fansubbed by quality groups that are only few days behind speedsubs.

#1146771 by Snuffsis (Power User) at 2009-06-17 21:45:18 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

And there are actually good speedsubbers, once you know the language fluently, it doesn't take long to translate, then it only comes down to the timing, and the animating if they use that annoying crap.

was a great episode. Still not as good as the manga imo, but it was still quality.

Not ventured into this section before but I think I need to rediscover my love for cartoons and anime seems like a great place to start.

I'm looking for recommendations for relatively recent Movies and Mini-Series that are dubbed in English as unfortunately I can barely tolerate subs in Movies absolutely can't in anime.

Cheers.

Thats SO subjective its almost unbelievable. Also gl waiting 10 years for one piece/naruto to finish

anyway, yes this weeks hni really delivered, although they couldve just done it in 3 episodes instead of 5

Funny I cant stand dubbed anime, I rather see/hear it as its sepose to be, but that was not the question.
No idea what  kind of anime you are looking for but I've heard the dubbed version of the serie and movies of Ghost In the Shell should be ok.

Honestly you should try to get into watching the subtitled versions. The voice acting is without exception always much much better in the original version, and the script is usually dumbed down to fit in with the mouth movements.

That said, you could try Berserk. It's a fairly good anime with a medieval setting that's adult themed and extremely violent. The downloadable versions that I've seen around come with dual audio and optional subtitles so that you can choose between english and japanese.

Give us some leads here man. Just tell us what you would like to see, like ninjas, violence, lots of blood, super powers, comedy etc. Then there are some guys here that can name alot of good series for you

Anything but comedy really. I really enjoyed watching the Guyver both the old version and new one, same with Fist of the North Star so I wouldn't mind something similar to those but other than that I'm pretty open.
