Just think about Bleach , i recently only watched it, i mean after 4 years since it started that's it? The first 67 episodes very cool at the essence (strictly for the shonen genre) but way to streched and with unecessary additions. I found myself fast forwarding very often because they showed all the side characters for too long when all everyone's interested is ichigo and his business. And i fast forwarded some more when half the fight they stop to explain every single thing. If someone takes a dump, they're gonna explain the complicated technology behind wiping your ass. Then a year's worth of fillers and very bad fillers at that. Then the second story arc which was so badly made it almost made my cry. They even inserted some genuine fillers + some daily life shit. And all the rest was soooo streched, i fast forwarded most of the time, only took me a few hours to finish that. And that was it.  The next is the present. That was it? 4 years? Hell i would've waited until 2015 if i knew.  And naruto, just read the negative reviews. It's laughable. Look a fragment from a review on anidb about the story. -For starters, half of the episodes are fillers. They have no significant plot or interesting stories, so they are not the good kind of fillers. That drops the story-based duration to 50%. -Then again, half of the duration of all story-based episodes is just recaps, dragging, stalling and general dead time, where we listen to things we already know or stare at characters who space-out and talk about the story of their lives, in the most irrelevant moments. That drops the story-based duration to 25%. -Wait, there is more. Another half of that half is just battles between secondary characters who don’t really affect the story. They do give a feeling of progress but in reality they could easily be left out without damaging the story at all. For you see, the story revolves around 10 people, while there are about 100 more, which don’t really do anything of importance to the plot. That drops the story-based duration to 12%. -Add to that the totally unbelievable story (12 year-olds out to save the day with funky powers, while their 100 times stronger teachers and parents do nothing or using hand gestures instead of guns), the fact that NOTHING is resolved in the end (the story still continues in Shiipuuden) and the obvious fact that since the name of the series is named after the protagonist, he will always survive and win in every situation. Therefore, you practically DON’T have a story. Ok, so these two are the best the genre has to offer ? How about, i don't know, every other anime out there? They're probably all better, even the sucky ones because they're shorter. Is this an opinion? Why ? Isn't it more like the truth? The reality? At least the Naruto mangas story progresses forward, and not in circles. It's actually quite good, considering the audience it appeals most to. Both animes are utter fail. The 100 fillerbreak of poo in Naruto was just... wtf. Anyway, my favorite animes are Berserk (ofc), Monster, Planetes, Full Metal Alchemist, and the mafia-part of Gungrave. Cowboy Bebop as well. (I also tend to enjoy Space Adventure Cobra alot more than any sane man should, but that is purely nostalgia!)
