About KARAS, is there anyone that knows when the next episode will be out?

i think it ended already only 6 episodes i guess.

just a side note:
i didn't enjoy it at all, and if it weren't for the good graphical effects in there, i wouldn't have wasted my time watching 6 long episodes.

Hmm... Seems like i've missed some of the releases then.. I watch it for the graphical effects too, don't really like it otherwise.

Cowboy Bebop had an OK dub imo. And the dub for last exile wasnt all horrible either.

I thought The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was a lot better in the dubbed version (at least the voices of the two main characters, some others were bad), had a dual-audio version and ended up watching it in English... somehow they expressed the emotions better that the faces of the anime-characters represented like boredom, indifference, excitement etc. while the originals seemed to pretty much only "read" the text in somewhat different tones without too much emotion. At least that was the impression I got from comparing the two...

btw. any other series you guys can recommend?
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (wow, great series)
Avatar (great of course love it but dunno if it's counted as anime)
Samurai Champloo (great series)
Claymore (love it, only at ep14... waiting for the rest as DVDRips)
Ergo Proxy (pretty neat)
Midori no Hibi (nice)
Death Note (pretty good but gets weird after ep15 or so... got to 18 waiting for rest as DVDRips)
Devil May Cry (good)
Samurai 7 (okay, not through yet... episode 10ish)
Fullmetal Alchemist (okay till now, watched the first 5 dunno if it gets any better but it doesn't "impress" me till now)
Hellsing OVA (okay)
Black Lagoon (okay... tried the first few...)

Got Witchblade, Cowboy Bebop, Elfen Lied, Bakumatsu, Moyashimon, Rosario + Vampire, Code Geass, Mai Otome, Mushishi, Basilisk and some more (first episodes on disk but didn't watch em yet)

Tried some others like Fate/Night (not too impressed), Darker than Black (though it's in HD and everything the story was kinda weird and stopped after a few eps)...
Watched some others also, which I discarded after 1-2 eps I can't rly remember like Last Exile, Eureka 7 Chrno Crusade, Normal Hellsing, Ninja Scroll, Noir, Gun X Sword, Full Metal Panic, Texhnolyze, Naruto (watched 15 eps or so till that "DBZ 1 fight over 5 episodes feeling kicked in and I dropped it) etc.  ^^

Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop are very well dubbed in English. You won't lose anything if you watch those 2 shows in Eng. Actually, Samurai Champloo is maybe better in eng.

As i always tell people, if you are bored and want something to watch i always refair to my list on my profile! Iv tried to rate and describe the shows short and easy. If you find anything there highrated just download it and it will atleast be OK or better. Enjoy

Most people dont consider Avatar an anime, but it's a thin line. But the producers did avoid the normal anime drawing styles to make it diffrent so I dont consider it anime =)
I must say that everytime i hear that evil fire country youngster i want to strangle somethinig.... his voice acting is horrible. Most of the others are pretty okay tho.

Anyone that knows of a show that is drawn in a rather unusual way, the caracters that i can remember is an old guy with sharp facial carasterictics(and he looks rather grumpy all the time), and 2 kids(one boy one girl if i remember correctly). I'm not sure if it's produced for niceklodeon or something like that (english original)
There may have been a lot of guns in it but im unsure there...

I just saw some dude watching a show that seemed interesting when i was working in his apartment (i'm an electrician)

Probably too little info but if anything comes to mind please give it a shot =)

Thanks Mjew for returning the anime to Torrentbytes!!! Really appritiate it

Ghost in the Shell was not bad dubbed....even if it is to give your eyes a rest instead of reading english 100 miles an hour.

IMO, dubbing is just taking down the spirit out of any anime.

Japanese is about yelling and noisy sounds, that's always been part of any anime, if you take that, it is not an anime.

you can say, dubbed, beautifully, good dubbing ... etc, but in my dictionary, there is nothing like that.

#880330 by MjewDonor (Power User) at 2008-01-07 23:15:13 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I have to agree with demagh, iv never watched a dubbed anime because i feel that i loses its touch, call me wierd but half of the show is all about the really talented japanese voice actors that sets the mood perfectly and thats why i will always find anime much easier to get excited about rather than real movies.

#880353 by scomic55 (Power User) at 2008-01-07 23:48:16 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

the thing is, unless you actually know a lot about good acting on a japanese scale i dont know how anyone can say that it is good acting just because its in its native language.

look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yc98uODh2Q

i'd be one of the first people to point out that that is some of the worst acting that ive ever heard, but thats only because i know a scale of what counts as good acting in english. something like the eng dub of fullmetal alchemist i consider pretty good as it still invokes the right kind of emotion.

i think it is unfar to denouce all dubbed anime as some of the english acters clearly have talent and at the end of the day i watch these things to be entertained in the most passive state possible so just listening and watching is better than listening and reading and watching. they are just cartoons at the end of the day

All animes are dubbed come on, Jap or Eng, always dubbed. As i said depends. For example how would you substitute Naruto's way of speaking or Orochimaru's voice? You can't, they both got a very particular way of speaking. Although with Samurai Champloo or Cowboy Bebop it isn't the case IMHO. Mostly cause the Eng dub is very well done. While on most animes the eng dub is complete crap.

You could try "Midori no hibi" or "Moyashimon" and see if you like them...
What I usually do is probe the series using YouTube (e.g. see drawing style and eventually story etc. on the first part of the first episode or an AMV) and then I download either at http://www.tokyotosho.com or using isohunt ^^

That's the point... there's no "original actor" when it comes to Animes really and the Japanese ppl are probably also casted and used after the first concepts and drawings are up, it only comes up to the interpretation of the character and as I said in some Animes (e.g. Haruhi Suzumiya) I think some of the english "dubbers" do a better job at capturing the spirit, mood and expressions of the Anime characters every now and then. Of course as always there are examples that are the complete opposite...
Another advantage is that you don't have to read anymore, which can improve the experience sometimes and is otherwise not possible when you can't understand Japanese ^^

EDIT: seems i have to give a little follow up, i have watched through haibane renmei, lucky star and kanon and i really liked the characters in lucky star, haibane renmei didn't get me really hooked and kanon made me sob like a little girl.

Thanks DozyJr. I would really appreciate if you could upload more single eps as it's not really possible for me and ZG at the moment as most eps would be here really really late. There should be more stuff from us soon thou.

Next pack will be Devil May Cry. Hopefully soon.
