I just converted History of voilence HLS in under 1HR using CCE 2.70 & avs scripts. I used the the 1 Pass VBR setting the q factor to 5... Easiest way with great results... (same quality as a 4pass VBR)

AVISource("C:\Documents and Settings\***\Desktop\Violence\hls-ahov.avi")
LanczosResize(688,416,6,0,580,320)
AddBorders(16,80,16,80)
ConvertToYUY2()

then i extracted the audio using Nandub, then usde FFMPEG to convert the audio to MP2
Nice

Also: cut 10% of the avi using virtualdub... run that through that way^

  If your output file is say 380MB - you then know that roughly that your full movie will turn out 3800MB (3.8GB)

I would recommend you use VSODivx to DVD to convert the episodes and then author with TMPEGenc DVD Author http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/98/59/ a little guide and also in the first comment under the guide it tells you how to add menus with DVD Author.

Yep thats right mate, convert the avi's to vobs with Divx to DVD and create menus with TMPGenc DVD Author by importing the created vobs into it, dunno whether you need it but here's a full guide to DVD author http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/53/59/

looks good although seems have to set when a chapter would start not auto, what happens then if all episodes of different time length but set to every 30minutes etc.
