""I always find what I want by looking at the topics"""

now that's just not reasonable at all .. u want me to go through all topics since the site was online to find what i am looking for?! strange thing that the majority chose this option from the poll

ppl using it experience what can be called "irrelevant topic", as it looks for every word made in a certain post .. which is not helpful .. should search by topic keyword .. or more options .. like nickname .. or etc., but from what i am seeing .. 46% didn't even understand the poll and chose that "excuse me" silly choice

"I can never find what i'm searching for"

I would like an option to only search for the tread topics.

Everytime i do a search it always come up alot of irrelevant posts!

Yeah, just like it is for me.
Is there any guidelines for search options? I don'tn know if i can use quotes "" or AND OR XOR NOT and so on.
BUT - If I search with a single word, like "stargate", I find what I want to find. But if I search for "superspecializedmega winrar" i, get a log of answers (9 pages), for "rar" ...

And - I don't use the search option because it seems like it costs a lot CPU usage for the server, and I just wanna be kind

I can never find what I'm searching for.

I always end up with a too copious an amount of options, 99.9999% of which do not have the slightest to do with the one I searched for. So I stopped using it. Shame on the forum search option.

You forgot one option:

  • Because it totaly sucks

Just try looking for "song quote" for example.

I'll definately find what I am looking for there.

I think the search looks in WAYYYYY to many places....
I mean, if u know u want to find a post named Stupid kid video for example.. ull get ALL the post that have the word VIDEO KID OR STUPID on it... and that doesnt make ANY sense...

It should only search on the topic names!

i voted on the i never find what i need... in mho  the search is TOTALLY useless...

I do use the forum search! Works well enough for me, usually find the threads I need.

That's a prime example  of not even knowing what you're looking for. You're looking for a song quote, any old song quote, so you get tons of hits, naturally. That's just a user error..

Probably not for a long time. Not a priority at the moment since it does actually work and most of us can find whatever we're looking for.

This is a pretty boring poll The last one was seemed dumb but it grew on me.
Not much can be discussed on this one.

Anyhow perhaps a feature to be able to search by "Title" It would help norrow the list down.

Im not sure if this is possible or it could be too much work but perhaps being able to search by title and date? or word and date.

What I mean is say your looking for  a firewall. Put it in and it will come up with heaps but say you can say firewall posted after 1,10,05 or 10,1,05 ( 1st october 2005 ) it would norrow it down heaps and you would find information that would be helpful instead of coming back with stuff from 10 months ago.

I know it shows the dates on the threads but it will make searching faster.

Would help if it works too.

Try searching for IRC and that was a proper search not a test.

I can never find what i'm searching for. I stopped using it. It's easier to find stuff im looking for by browsing for it myself.

    #408821 by unknown[4317] at 2005-10-08 23:41:21 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

    I use it regularly.

The search function on the forums is honestly so crappy they should just get rid of it. I remember that shortly before TorrentBits went down they fixed up the search function, apparently the changes were not implemented here though.

i don't use the forum search option because it rarely works properly and loads slowly. and it's hidden at the bottom of the page.
