anyone tried firefox 3 beta?!
i was astonished to find out how fast it is plus they fixed most of the memory leakage i guess, still lots to fix from what announcements everywhere claim, but i don't care, i'll be waiting for their final release.

Anyone has any nice javascripts for Opera to share? I'm considering stealing code off from already done greasemonkey scripts because i'm just to lazy to code js myself

IE7 ftw.

Tried FF.. it sucks and now I only use it to test webpages because it has a nicer javascript debugger and ofcourse for multibrowser support
Tried Opera mini.. pages look nicer then pocket IE but its missing so many features those guys should be embarrased for ever releasing it
Will have to try Opera one of these days

Why FF sucks:
- Javascript documentation is there, however has proven to be inaccurate time and time again
- Page rendering is crappy on a lot of sites
- Uses more memory then Vista
- Downloads default to the desktop (ofcourse you can set it to download elsewhere, but honestly how many people like crap on their desktop?)
- Player Plugin support sucks balls
- Every time I start it, some obscure sucky function just got fixed and I need to restart the browser
- Can't do any banking with it
- Basically every time you use it you find out "oh shit this doesn't work in FF"

I use Apple Safari 3, used FireFox since the 0.8 version, great browser..  but the new Safari just took my breath away!

-Better HTML Performance!
-Better JavaScript Performance!
-Faster Application Launch!

Only negative is that it uses 60-70mb of RAM on my mom's PC, but on my MacBook it runs smooth.

You can get the Public Beta for Windows on http://www.apple.com/safari/

not sure why thats a negative, tiny amount of ram and about the same as firefox

only negative i can see is its apple, sorry to say i hate apple, all products

but each to there own

firefox for me, works great, not much ram, no issues with sites, when i webdesign i just make sure works in ff and hopefully ie7, then tweak so works in both

agree

Also, i feel it is a lot faster than FF 2.0 in loading pages, is it me, or is it a fact?! Note that i was using faster fox with FF 2.0 and NOT using it with 3.0 beta 2

While the page loading seems pretty much the same for me (i always tweak the settings on my own), the overall feel of the browser is... well... better
Just about everything in it seems more responsive (than ff2).

How much longer until the FINAL FF3 build is out?

#877207 by unknown[199075] at 2008-01-02 03:49:01 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

I've been using FF for a long time now, but when I went home to my parents for the holiday I could not be ****ed to install it, so I used IE. I never gave the "new" IE with tabs a chance, and to honest, I don't mind it. It seems to be better. So know maybe I will drop installing FF after next time I format. I wonder if someone else has gone back to IE, after using FF for a long time?

I will now get flamed! :look:

@draupnir
firefox is not about tabbed browsing, it is about the extensions, at least for me.

Using firefox I:
- don't have to install any download manager "downthemall extension"
- don't have to install alexa toolbar to know traffic details and such "search status extension"
- i don't have to open two browsers to compare between pages "split browser extension"
- don't have to look a word in both google and wekipedia to find information about it "googlepedia extension"
- got in browser email notifier
- adblock plus, so you can browse with no ads, if you wanted to
- HTML shortcuts to make a post looking neat if i want to without going through tags and stuff

if you are a user with no need for extensions I'd recommend opera over anything else

@demagh
I got no extensions on my FF. I only started using it because it had tabs and because I heard it was safer, faster and required less system resources. So I pressume I don't really need FF then, maybe I should just go for IE. Can't be bothered to install Opera, even though I'm a Norwegian. What do you think, FF or IE?

#877584 by demagh (User) at 2008-01-02 23:37:10 (5 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

@draupnir
Will always be FF for me compared to IE, even without extensions.

But if you ask me again, Opera will be my final answer for the best browser out there with no extensions, give it a try.

I tried nearly all kind of browser types i think, each have some advantages maybe but i am using Maxthon (not 2 cause its buggy) regularly. FireFox, Internet Explorer, Opera and Avant Browser are installed on my machine too, for developing web sites. And i can say that the main difference between IE and FF is (selected them for their majority) FF can use DOMs better but IE is more compatible with old coded sites. Maxthon is also using IE engine with additional functions so i prefer it. (Sorry for bad English if so...)

Just thought I'd share a IE 7.0 messagbox that I got when looking around my online bank.

"The current Web page is trying to open a site in your Trusted sites list."

IE, undisputed king of useless information being flashed in your face...

I use Firefox but Safari could be okey as well... IE is good... but they only copy FF! Better to use the original quality.
