So I was feeling a bit suicidal, i opened all my bookmarks in tabs, adding up to a total of ~80 tabs.
~190mb used, not that bad. I don't understand how some manage to get to 150mb with 6 tabs.

I suggest getting fasterfox and using it to set your cache settings usually helping you configure a memory setting you like, decrease the cache if you want less memory or increase if you have more to spare...

This image has been resized, click here to view the full-sized image.

btw i have 28 extensions currently installed... (most just little additions like extra buttons, restart firefox button, but i have big ones like adblock and web developer as well..)

I have another profile im not using that has almost no extensions set up for speed that i use if i just want to surf, i was gonna set it up so i can have different profiles for web designing and stuff, but i never did .

Opera is the fastest
Firefox is the most versatile and most incompatible
Maxthon is the second most versatile and 100% compatible

No that´s not true. That would be like saying; It doesn´t matter what browser you use as long as you use Windows.

I love firefox but it's been creating a lag problem as of late... 52mb with 1 tab is just not right. In games i often have a way lower fps than normal and directly i tab out and close FF everything works correctly again.. Tried opening 20 tabs and it jumped to 90mb. And no it's not my computer, i got 3700+ and 2gb memory. I also use the "fasterfox" addon so I am really at a loss here

Only recently I have this next problem with FF. SAVED FORMS option doesn't work at all. Yes it is checked to work. It works for the current session but when I close and restart it's back to "zero" (no saved data in forms). It's really annoying as I have to type the same thing over and over again. I have tried fresh install and it's the same (yes deleted MOZILLA folder in application data). What gives? Anyone with the same problem? Help please. Thank you.

Maxthon (Avant and etc.) does use IE's engine, so don't worry, all the IE holes work nicely in it.

i find that firefox takes up too much memory after a while, and now i.e has tabbed browsing. im not particularly concerned about the safest browser because i dont look up porn (download it off here) and i only go to a few reliable sites (tb). so can someone recommend me a very fast effecient browser that doesnt look hideous?

as compatible as possible as well? thanks

Opera browser is the fastest out there ... you can customize it alot too so it wont look "hideous" (not that it looks hidious anyway)

either get 8.54 final build here

http://www.download.com/Opera/3000-2356 … ag=lst-0-1

or 9.0 Beta version here

I think this is kinda offtopic but have a question.. When im here on the forum and people talk about some currency like for example $1 it sometimes come up as "?" is there any way to change it so i can actually see the number? Btw i use firefox

#629945 by wardukeDonor (Power User) at 2006-06-20 17:42:16 (7 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

firefox keeps giving me Shockwave plugin errors lately.  I didn't change anything to have messed up the plugin that I am aware of.

I have uninstalled it and deleted the Firefox Mozilla folder.

After reinstall though the problem is still there.

I have removed flash and shockwave and firefox and then installed them all back on...

Still getting the error.  It crashes from time to time.

Is there another folder (not in program files) that I need to delete because all my bookmarks are still there which tells me I am not really removing what I need to be removing to get a fresh install.

#629989 by xosemp (VIP) at 2006-06-20 18:42:53 (7 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

@warduke: There's the profile folder that holds the user data and preferences. Maybe it's something there producing the error. It's located on "C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles". Get a backup of your bookmarks and adblock definitions (if any), uninstall FF and delete that folder. Then reinstall.

"Application Data" is a hidden folder. Make sure you can see hidden folders or type it on the address bar to open it. And "YourUsername" is to be replaced with your Windows' username.
