Google Chrome FTW

Its all I really need. There are no plugins that could come useful, but it stays the fastest and most stable (in my view) browser on the market.

Now that they introduced personalized themes I love it even more!

And it seems like in the future the browser will just improve for the better, and not make your pc lag like IE does..Firefox is not a bad browser either, I just don't like the way it looks and it becomes real heavy on the system once you install a few plugins...

EDIT: Acid Test 3
Firefox: 91/100 (and it took ages :S)
Chrome: 100/100

They don't need to know about it's existence at all or install it themselves. It's a plugin, just like Flash or any other, and websites that don't want to deal with IE can request it to be installed.

EDIT: http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/ … le_plug_in

In a corporate environment often users don't have the administrative rights to install plugins in their browser.

At one of my previous jobs (a 100+ employee development company) we were allowed to download and install programs like Irfanview or Winamp or stuff like this, but each system had installed a McAffee product that allowed network administrators to automatically push updates for various software we used and if they wanted to, they could have removed any software we installed remotely.

And, once every two-three weeks we were asked to not power off the computers over night (if we had the habit of turning them off - they didn't mind if we left them all the time on) so that Windows updates they previously checked would be installed.

Also, we had to keep IE6 installed because we often received projects made in old or weird programming languages (I worked on Magic eDeveloper for example which I doubt you guys heard about) and these old projects used IE6 specific stuff to pop reports and various other things.

When you're hired to convert such project from ASP or java or other old languages to ASP.net/C#/whatever and you don't have a good documentation, you need to have IE6 to replicate what happens and replicate it in the new programming language.

We were allowed to use Firefox otherwise... but as I said, lots of old projects failed to run on Firefox because of IE6 tricks.

Another reason why IE is often preferred by corporation is the fact that its configuration and almost anything related to it can be controlled and locked by network administrators...

Firefox and Chrome as far as I know still don't have MSI packages that could be deployed overninght to 100 computers and configured and then locked so that the stupid project tester won't click on a popup and install smileys toolbars extension on her lunch break while reading some newspaper or blog.

Is it possible to export/save the cookie exceptions in Firefox? I'm going to be doing some renovating and am backing up my stuff.

Edit: Never mind. The christmas spirit came over me and I made a list. Removed all the naughty ones I don't visit any more.

I've been running FF for ages now with all the updates installed with no problems til this week.
I ran FF from it's quickbar icon and as it opened I got a BSOD.I restarted the system and everything is running fine apart from 1 aspect of FF....whenever I start the app it loads my tabs fine but refuses to remember any of my old passwords.

When it starts up Windows Live it always logs to the sign in screen and even though I have "Remember me on this PC" and "Always remember pasword" selected it still demands I type my email addy and password every time. The same for TB apart from the fact that my login and PW are autofilled just waiting for me to click the log on button.

It's only been doing this since the crash and I'm wondering if there's a simple way to fix it before I go ahead and save all my favourites/bookmarks etc and do a fresh install of Firefox?

Im currently using chrome love it! the only thing i dont like is that the adblock addons doesnt really work... they only seem to hide the ads when the site is already loaded.

Isn't making a backup of your bookmarks and reinstalling Firefox a simple way? Takes like what, 5 minutes?

I just switched to Chrome from Opera (although I like Opera as well). However, one issue I'm having with Chrome is it does not seem to stay logged in to certain websites when I close I re-open the browser. For example, I always have a tab open on my gmail inbox, but when I close the browser and re-open it later, it makes me login again, unlike Opera/Firefox.

How do I fix this? Its quite annoying.

Finally tried Google Chrome a few minutes ago, and I must say I am really enjoying it.

I use Firefox 3.6 beta 5. Google Chrome is also great but extensions aren't great like in Firefox.

Using Google Chrome fulltime now, switched from Firefox.

The reason for the change is that I didn't use a lot of extensions in Firefox, mostly just Adblock.
Also because Google Chrome shows websites better than Firefox, probably because Google Chrome makes use of Webkit like Apple Safari, meaning sites making use of CSS3 and new web standards all show perfectly.

Firefox still has tiny issues with custom @font-face fonts when it comes to font-weight.

Not to mention that Google Chrome really renders websites fast, I guess because it doesn't make use of extensions that could hog down the browsing.

One cool minor feature I like in Google Chrome is that I can highlight a piece of text and right click and than choose "Search Google for xxx".

You might want to give Opera a try, then

I don't think anyone uses the CSS 3 features yet as its not fully supported by the biggest browsers.

I'm still wating for Google Chrome 4.0 which will enable the use of extensions

Yeah I know but I rather stay on the stable version, the beta got released in October so it shouldn't be long now.

Actually they are, majority of CSS3 is being supported by Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox.
And a lot of web designers are already using it, you just haven't visited any good designed websites then

Resently tweeted by some ppl:

"What's with all the "we can't use CSS3" comments on Nettuts+? Of course you can!"
"@danaseverance Sure, you can do that. But it's not a big deal if rounded corners default to square, or a 2 column paragraph defaults to 1."
"Exactly. RT @badgerthat: @NETTUTS totally agree, it's like saying "Dont' make HD films because not everyone has an HD TV". #css3"
"Rounded corners scale down nicely to square. A font shadow scales down nicely to just the font. @kenbarroll"

The only major FAIL browser that does not support CSS3 is as expected Microsoft Internet Explorer, they promise it will be in IE9, but I highly doubt it will even work correctly.

For me Safari is unbeatable. Beautiful and simple interface, noticeably faster than it's competitors and most standard compliant. I however use firefox as I can't do without some of the developer tools and extensions. While Safari's developer tools are good, they still lack some functionality that ff provides.

Chrome I haven't given much of a chance as i just plain don't like the interfaces. Seems somewhat pee wee's playhouse.

IE blows right up to 8.

Opera? Who cares.
