I'm using Iron, some Chromium offspring that apparently disables whatever information gathering code Google filled Chrome with. After using Chromium I can't go back really, I get annoyed when using Firefox at any other PC.

Disabling ad's through Privoxy was a hassle though, but it works. Now only if I can figure out how to get Greasemetal running under Iron..

Been using CustomizeGoogle with Firefox for years now, mostly because I like the fact it blocks the text ads in Gmail and search results. Recently, all the adblocking features have stopped working for me in both Gmail and search results. I can't find any information about this anywhere.

Is this happening for other people?

Hehe, just thought I'd mention how fun it is to browse with a cookie whitelist. No more tracking this surfer. :ninja:
The stuff I found when I was checking out my cookie jar...

Are there any hidden side effects to blocking all cookies from sites I haven't approved?

One thing I miss from Opera that isn't in FF is the trashcan for tabs you've closed. On Opera you can open the trashcan and reload a tab you've closed previously but FF only seems to have undo.

Does anyone know how to enable something like this or an add-on that will do it?

I already searched on the plug-ins and here on TB but just can't find any mention of it,but maybe I just used the wrong keywords?

#1106649 by WandelDonor (Pirate) at 2009-03-22 14:39:32 (4 years ago) - [Quote] - [Report]Top

Is there a difference between reloading from the trashcan and FF's undoing?

You have list of recently closed tabs under the history menu in FF. I'm sure you can increase the size of that list somehow, probably using about:config.

It's pure awesomeness how customizeable Firefox is. I have a 10,2" laptop, so there isn't much screen area I would like to waste on menus and toolbars. This is what I came up with:

This image has been resized, click here to view the full-sized image.

Addons:
Fission - loading bar behind url
Hide caption - removes title bar. Link here
Personal menu - among other things, it enables nicer bookmarks button
Tiny menu - that "Valikko" on top left is a menu, which pops down to file, edit, tools, etc. buttons

And a few others that affect functionality, such as IE Tab, QuietURL and Adblock Plus. I also removed search engines from the toolbar. Instead I use quick searches, or whatever they are called. For example if you go to google.com and right click the search field, select "add a keyword for this search", choose something and save. I chose g for google, y for youtube, w for wikipedia, and so on. Now you can simply type "g hot lesbian action" to address bar and it works.

Or you could use the latest Safari, version 4 (though i dont know how good the new windows version is)

I really do love this new Safari and use it instead of Firefox.  The only thing I wish it had was an automatic function to clear selected data on shut down.  The option is there but it's manual and takes me 2 seconds

or you could just press f-11 on the browser of your choice (only tested on firefox and ie) and not waste time on stuff like this.

I've hunted for FF hotkeys/keyboard shortcuts but none of the lists have what I'm looking for....what I want is a keystroke to open the next page on a forum with multiple pages ie on page 12 and hit a key to go to page 13.

Anyone know if it's possible?

That's a really nice feature, but I'm too used to using that gesture on Firefox to switch tabs
Opera is a great browser, though, and that's why it's my secondary browser instead of IE.

By the way, Firefox 3 became the most used browser in Europe, according to StatCounter.

I used Opera for something like 4 years or more but after installing Vista it seemed unstable so I tried FF and I'm happy with it,stil got Opera on my machine though.

WHat I'm looking for though is a way to go to the next page without having to touch the mouse at all,for when I'm busy doing other stuff with my hands (get your mind outta the gutter ).Eating, rolling a smoke or whatever else.

I'm currently using the safari beta 4 for windows Vista ( x64 ) but the bookmarks option is broken ( browser instant crashes when I try to create a bookmark ) also it opens all the tabs in a new windows instead of tabs, which I find kind of annoying. Any fixes?

Latest FF problem......sound works fine for a while then at some random point when I open something like Youtube there's no sound. If I shut down FF and reload it the sound is back.No problem using IE or Opera.

Anyone else with the problem or just me? Any suggestions or just uninstall and reinstall it?
