If you have used this guide to join a 2 CD movie that you've downloaded but the movie came with subtitles, one for each CD, and you want to join them too (eg. for future conversion to DVD), this is the guide for you. The thing is, to properly join the subs, you need the video files that the subtitles "belong" to.

I'm assuming your subtitles are in .SRT format, never tried joining .SUB subtitles.

Required apps:

Subtitle Workshop

Step 1: The only step

When you've installed Subtitle Workshop, unpacked your movie and your subtitle files, open up Subtitle Workshop. In the main window, choose Tools --> Join Subtitles. A little window will pop up.

Now click Add and browse to the subtitles you want to join, select all of them and click Open. Now comes the important part. For the subs to be joined properly and without any timecode screwup, you need to tell Subtitle Workshop what file each subtitle file is meant for. Click on CD 1's subtitle, and then click Set movie fragment. Now browse to CD 1 of your movie and click Open. You have to do this for every subtitle except the last one.

Finally, choose from the dropdown menu what framerate your subs have (default is set to 23.976 so if you have a PAL movie you have to change it to 25), then check both checkboxes on the bottom, choose what output format you want (Subrip = SRT) and then press Join!

The newly joined subtitle will now load and you can check the file for any errors. Now if you watch your joined AVIs with the joined subtitles, everything will work fine.

I've never seen or heard of .SRT files that come in more than one language, you sure you're not thinking of .SUB files?
