They are from an HD source, but they are not actually High-definition. IMO, the image quality is pretty good considering the size/compression ratio they pull off with the 350mb releases.

Some sites have uploaders which upload the full highdef rips, but depending on the compression codec used, they can get to some insane filesizes.

For example, on another site, there is this:

Prison Break S02E05 DD5.1 720p-CtrlHD

File Size Processed: 4.53 GB, Play Time: 00h:43m:06s
1280 x 720, 59.94 fps, 38.81 Mbps (14.15 Mbps Average).
Average Video Quality: 28.81 KB/Frame, 0.26 Bits/Pixel.
AC3 Audio: 3/2 Channels (L, C, R, SL, SR) + LFE, 48.0 kHz, 448 kbps.

Considering a full season of regular HDTV rips is ~8gb, 4.53gb for a single episode is pretty mental.

Probably insanely big, and it would take ages to encode even on a Xeon or Opteron processor.

Plus, like you said yourself, TV networks other than Discovery Channel rarely broadcast in 1080i.

i don't understand american TV, everything gets put on hold because of some stupid sports game.. they have like 100 tv channels with crap on it and they decide to put sports on the ones with the only decent shows..

here in holland shows don't get cancelled, even if the dutch soccer team has to play wich is like the biggest sports event here.

Just use EP Guides instead of asking about where all the releases are atm.
Would clean up most threads quite a bit me thinks

Cant wait for the 23rd either, feels like ages..must play some wow to make time fly by (yes i've become an addict to that stinking game, sniff)
