For me : "Nothing. Everyting is over"
There's nothing before birth, and nothing after death !
Why do people think that something would come after death ? Because thinking that after your death your are nothing is quite frightening, so some people prefer to belive in something that certainly doesn't exist (like angels, devil, god and all other things invented a long time ago to make people act the "good" way).

Even more ridiculous : in some religions, it's said that there is 7 virgin girls that are waiting for you when you die ! I wonder if there is some king of "virgin factory" in heaven :w00t: .

When someone of my familly or a friend die, i would like to be able to belive in an "heaven" for the one who left and to reduce my pain, but i can't !

Anyway, nobody will know the answer as wa can't come back from dead, and if there is nothing after, then even the dead people won't know because they're not able of "thinking" !

I just don't get athiesm and people who believe there is nothing after death... or people who believe in heaven and hell for that matter. Life is so much more complex than our simple and limited thoughts and musings on the matter. Death is infinitely more complex than life.

I like these quotes about life and death:
" Immortality is not the survival of the mental personality after death, though that also is true, but the waking possession of the unborn & deathless self of which body is only an instrument and a shadow."

" If Life alone were & not death, there could be no immortality; if love were alone & not cruelty, joy would be only a tepid & ephemeral rapture; if reason were alone & not ignorance, our highest attainment would not exceed a limited rationality & worldly wisdom."

"There are two for whom there is hope, the man who has felt God's touch & been drawn to it and the sceptical seeker & self-convinced atheist; but for the formularists of all the religions & the parrots of free thought, they are dead souls who follow a death that they call living."

What is it that looks from your eyes and hears through your ears...? Your own mind. Ego, memories, feelings, dies at the moment of death but mind always stays.. Mind is like space ... you can't lose it

Considering the assumption that every positive has a negative and that the universe seems to balance everything I would say nothing. Like the time before your birth or when you're asleep. But what does it mean to be "alive"?

I don’t quite understand why so many people believe that everything has to come to an end at death.
The energy that makes us and everything else live has to continue. Energy never dies, basic physics, energy can change and it constantly does but it just continues.
This appears to me to point to the ides that we are connected to everything that has been and ever can be.
Good thing about questions like this is that we can spout as much crap as we like and no one can say were wrong.

Believers in Jesus go to heaven, the others go to hell.  thats it in a nut shell im afraid

and in reply to hector's post: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?bo … xt=context

it says that everyone has sinned and all are nowhere near good in god's eyes.  Therefore we are all destined for hell unless we accept the grace given to us from the death of jesus

I don't believe :-P

I think god is nice and him and me will get along, and he'll let me into heaven even though I don't believe in jesus.   And then I can become best friends with jesus, and it'll all turn out great.

First of all I respect everyones choice off riligion and thinking.
I personaly don't know what's next. I don't think about it either, it gives me a headeach.
In my opinion; if you don't think about what's after death, you won't be afraid of death.

And What's after, We will see in time won't we.
