Overclocking 4ever!!!

--------------------------

CPU: Intel P4 3E Ghz @ 3.4 Ghz
Motherboard: ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe
RAM: Kingmax 2 Gb @ 227 Mhz (FSB)
VGA: HIS X800XT @ 560 / 1200 Mhz (GPU / Memory)

I don't get it. I have a venice core A64 3000+, which I have heard many reports on the ease of overclocking. I have managed to get it up to 2.1ghz a couple times, but it was very unstable. I have reached my stable limit at fsb 213mhz, totalling 1.9 ghz. But I don't get it, so many people talk about getting at LEAST 2ghz. I have two 512 chips of kingston ddr3200 running in dual channel mode. Why can't I get any higher overclocks?

Muahahaha! 3000+ Winchester 1.8ghz @ 2.85ghz

@stricker85 .. try reading the memory divider part guide in my profile and raise vdimm a bit, read the htt multiplier as well

by the way remember the memory controller thing i thought was ruined in my processor?! was just a bad bios .. when i reflashed everything is ok now

@ ULjarad
ur clocks are a bit too high @ lower multiplier @ very high voltage considering winchesters ... bet this overclocks are not 32MB superpi stable

So, demagh, are you suggesting to run my memory at a lower frequency with a bit more voltage and lower the htt multiplier?

#442012 by demagh (User) at 2005-11-04 02:28:06 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

yup .. and i got my reasons for that mentioned in my profile

but to cut is short for u ppl who dont want to read
[1] lower frequency taking in consideration ur processor higher speeds .. when fsb 240/166 .. then ur memory is running @ ddr400 .. so nothing is harmed/slowed down
[2] the higher vdimm is only 0.1v above the stock .. to maintain system stability for ur processor/mobo new clocks
[3] lower LTD multipler is what i meant ... max is x5 ... set it to 4x to enable overclocking without no trouble
[4] disable cool'n'queit
[5] read the whole post in my profile before asking questions or ask about something u dont get from my post then it'll be posted in the FAQ

Are you saying I should have lower clocks @ lower multiplier @ very high voltage? :p

I could get a higher overall speed with 8x multi vs 9x multi. 8x356 isn't 30M SuperPi, but 8x552 were.

RAM Sandra bandwidth. This is with Patriot DDR400.

#442024 by demagh (User) at 2005-11-04 02:35:23 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

lol

i know the lower multiplier is prefered for DFI "looks like that's what u got right?!" but 356 is kinda too much and ur voltages is way too high to keep 24/7 .. i run my processor @ 2.6ghz 24/7 with 1.46 vcore "bios read"

anyway .. the bandwidth is not that impressive, but they are good enough.

Dude, I've read your profile many times. I understand the principles you lay out in it. All I was doing was asking a specific question based on my particular scenario. Your broad and general guide in your profile simply didn't provide me with the answers I needed. Thank you for your help, though.

sounded like i recommended lowering ur overall system performance for the sake of overclocking "from the way u wrote it without going through enough explanation ", which means that u didnt get the idea of what i said .. which means u didnt get what i meant in my post in my profile .. so i guessed that u didn't read it .. or read it carefully to be prcise

i didnt mean to be rude .. though i sounded a bit .. but u know .. one of those days

ur particular scenario is nothing new that was my point .. and about the answers u needed .. pm me with the specific questions as i canNOT figure out what questions are not answered in my profile from what i can recall is written there.

p.s: u got the DFi or the ASus?! cant remember

Why the immediate shootdown of everything I say? That's not very friendly.

2.85ghz was my max oc on that CPU. 2.8ghz was my 24/7 speed and I only had to use a vcore of 1.475. Everything from stock vcore to 1.55 is dandy and helpful, but once you go above that increasing the voltage does increasingly less. I could've done more if I had used water.

Understood, same here. I got an EPoX board. nforce 3 ultra chipset.

@ULjarad
sorry didn't mean too was just trying to be silly .. but looks like it came out too silly, there was once a guy on EX/OC who overclocked his ram to 335FSB@3-4-4-8-T1 patriot pdp and showed me the first 8300+ score on sandra benchmarks .. afterwards .. all rams clocks are not impressing me however good they are

2.8ghz@1.475 that's what i am talking about a very good overclocking results indeed for the 3000+ venice .. congrats u lucky @#$%$$#%

@sticker85
sorry for u too man, i am just doing alota calculations and studying from the beginning of the day + i am selling some of my stuff to get some new hardware components "calculating the coming monthly income and what i have now to know what exactly to do"
feel free to ask anything .. even if mentioned before in my profile

p.s: may be screen shots of ur bios will help if u got a cam?

EDITED:
nice sticky ULjarad .. may be i'll copy something or 2 from ur sticky to mine will give u credit for what i copied of course .. cheers.

I started my guide almost 2 years ago and has grown since. It's on several dozen websites, with the more popular ones having nearly 100,000 views since being posted. I'd suggest putting "Copyright (c) 2005 by demagh" on your article. Quite a few people have tried stealing mine.

edit-
Yay! I'm finally at a share ratio of 1.000 again!

Well, I lowered my HTT multiplier to 4x and that seemed to let go way up with the overclock. I am running stable at 240mhz fsb. I have noticed a slight increase in boot up time, and HWinfo32 benchmarks for the cpu integer test have gone down somewhat while the fpu test has gone way up. I'm still trying to decide whether I'm really gaining that much performance.

try sandra 2005 benchmarks .. those are famous to compare ur results with other systems .. never heard of Hwinfo32 actually ... downloading it now

the increase in boot time is kinda weird, if u are back to stock is it fast as before?! could be an unlocked sata port try another one "far from the one u tried on" above the AGP SATA ports are the one to go with - if available -  for most nforce3 ultra mobos "FAQ in my profile"

EDITED:
that was a really quick benchmark .. looks cool but dont know if it is worth trusting .. i'll stick with sandra for CPU tests

hey everybody...
i am still overclocking my cpu (see my profile for specs and current speeds) and recently i was unrarring and it gave me a crc error (volume is corrupt) and that only happens if i o/c my cpu more than what it's on currently....
the temps are fine... 30 idle and 40 load... does anyone have an idea to solve it, apart from raising voltages...
TIA

#443410 by demagh (User) at 2005-11-05 11:44:28 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

the rar u downloaded is curropted .. the zipping operation is fine ... u may overclocked ur ram a bit more than it could handle .. try memtest for that

#443439 by unknown[80538] at 2005-11-05 12:35:40 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

well... the rar isn't corrupted... i extracted after putting the 3500+ back to 2.6gHz and it unrarred fine... so the rars are fine... even brnt it without probs... so...
and the memory isn't overclocked to far even... :S it has run 40mHz faster... without giving errors...
any more ideas?

#443492 by demagh (User) at 2005-11-05 13:27:36 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

it is not about giving errors .. it is about memtest test 5 passing

did u try memtest?

i am out solutions if u did

p.s:
my previous post was because i had the same problem before .. whenever i am downloading r01,r02 etc i got that error .. but unraring other files went fines ... checked memory with memtest .. got 5 errors on the fifth loops of memtest .. downclocked my memory a bit .. everything went fine .. downloaded the curropted rar file again ... everything went fine .. and i lived happily ever after
THE END

EDITED:
--4+ hours on prime doesn't mean u are superstable, prime aint enough unless u are going for 24+ hours
-- nice clocks with 350 psu
-- 25 loops of test 5 on memtest means ur memory clocks are just fine"make sure that memory sticks are cool if they are memory chips that get REALLY hot", 25 loops of test 8 will assure that ur memory settings are super stable "that'll take like 2 hours or so to complete both tests"
-- u may need to up ur cpu voltage a little bit if u encountered the same problem again .. and see then what happens

so it is safe to up the voltage even more?

depending on ur temps
0.025 is what is the value  am talking about

oke... i'lll have a go at it...
allready got it at 2.62gHz now
