What kind of memory do you have?
8x400 for 3.2 might be better with DDR2-800.

team xtreeme 2*1gb ddr2-800, many people said that they are easily overclockable to 1066, but thanks for reminding me, i'm gonna make some memory tests and if they fail i'll do what you said

edit: memory now @ 854

i was thinking of overclocking one of my older cpu. When i have usually overclocked anything i have been careful and havent pushed it far at all.

But i have 1 cpu i dont really care about anymore, so i thought why not push it to the "edge".

just want to know though can i f'ck up the motherboard or any other components other than the CPU?

it depends ...

my processor have a stock fsb of 800, i oc it to 1333 (pusing it ~66%)
for that i need a MB capable to do fsb 1333, and ram 667, which i already got

so actually i am only pushing the cpu, the ram/MB are running at speeds that they normally support

if my MB only support 1066 FSB, then i'd be pushing it alot too, but thats not the case

u can usually OC ur processor without pushing any other stuff, that should be pretty easy to manage

nah u misunderstood, what i was asking is there any risk of breaking other hardware?

i mean can the motherboard break, or disfunction or anything like that?
because i dont want to risk other hardware in it, just the CPU

I guess you risk hurting other hardware as the whole thing in general is producing more heat, but take it from me - you'll have a very hard time breaking it, as long as you're just doing normal overclocking and not actually looking to break things I'm positive you'll be fine

@ stock voltage (1.32 V)

Hmm why isn't it picking up the proper GPU and GDDR3 speeds??
700mHz core + 1150 mHz GDDR3...

( I have managed to get it up to 3.6 though... @ 1.376 V idle, 1.384 V load )

Because you're at your desktop and PowerPlay has kicked in?

i have a Intel Core2 CPU 6320 @ 2x 1.86GHz, wouldnt mind knowing how to OC this, but would i be able to OC it much, anyone done it before with this cpu and got good results?

Hey OC people

I have an old Conroe E6600, which I have now overclocked, on air, to 3.3. It has been stable for a short amount of time (20 minutes on prime95). Both core temps are at 68. This is high I have been informed, but is it really that bad? It's at 1.4v. Should I give up and lower it a bit?

Its

That isn't that bad at all, try to keep your voltage at its lowest possible, can it run at a lower voltage? try it ...

anyone know about OC'ing "Intel Core2 CPU 6320 @ 2x 1.86GHz" ?

just overclock it how you would with any cpu and see for yourself.. like with most c2d cpu's you can get a 30% gain relatively easily.

perhaps this question is asked before ive tried scrolling through 10 pages but didnt find anything

is there a way to oc your cpu with software? because im not comfortable with opening my pc and messing with my cpu myself because something ALWAYS goes wrong it has to go wrong i have a e8200 btw, is there any potential in it? if you need to know other hardware its on my profile

#1107096 by unknown[172158] at 2009-03-23 12:26:10 (4 years ago) - [Report]Top

the only reason you'd have to open your case is if you wanted to do something with the heatsink, which you'd need to do with software based overclocking as well. theres plenty of foolproof guides for asus mobos on the interwebs, its very simple and not half as complicated as people try to make out. regarding the software - i dunno

#1107100 by johnboyjoe (User) at 2009-03-23 12:41:35 (4 years ago) - [Report]Top

desktop OCing sux use the bios and the only reason u might have to mess with mobo is to reset the bios.

i wouldnt mind overlooking my pc.

i have a Pentium 4 2.80Ghz
1GB of ram
abit sg-71 mobo

How faster will overclocking do? say i encode a movie with cce - takes 7-8hrs, how long will it take overclocked? (estimated)

i'll have a look at those sites 2moro, cheers for the links

lad not even trying to be funny or a dick!! but dont even think of over clocking that thing!!!

just save up and get something good!!!

you only really need it for games!! will i think so anyway!!!

links on you tube!!!

haha, yeah save up, about £200 will get you a quad core cpu and a capable motherboard
edit: takes me usually 30mins to encode a movie in ConvertXTODVD

Hey guys I'm going to try and overclock my cpu soon its a phenom 9500 quad core! I was looking at the asus utility pc probe II and it said this:

Current Speed: 2200MHZ
Maximum Speed: 3700MHZ

What kind of cooler is good for am2+ cpus? I dont see much on Canada Computers...

http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.ph … cid=FN.349

Also I have a sli motherboard and have a XFX 9800 GT how much power wattage do I need for a 2nd card?

Does anyone know what kind of voltage it is safe to pump into my Intel E7300??

Intel says 1.36 something... But I think it can take more.
got it at 1.38 now... running @ 3.6 gHz

Getting kinda worried about how far I can push it...
I'm trying to reach 3.8 gHz... Have tried up to 1.42 vCore sofar... And still not stable.

I wouldnt go higher than 1.4v, i used to run 1.45 on my 7200 and noticed deterioration after a few months.
