pontypool: before you touch your settings i'd recommend going here: http://www.ocforums.com/

nice forum, thats how i got my pc overclocked, they helped out alot.

Post a topic there about your pc specs and ask what a suitable "SAFE" overclock settings is and use those settings they give you. Then all you need to do is everyday up a setting in the bios and see if its stable.

Also have a look around that site, theres lots of info about oc.

No they don't.

i guess sahpat meant that intels are kinda too hot if not well cooled, especially when talking overclocking  .. tomshardware once reviewed a 3.6ghz processor with its stock heatsink and guess what?! there was considerable thermal throttling, u should apply some arctic silver instead of stock thermal paste so that thermal throttling is disabled,

but as long as u monitor ur temps .. use another thermal paste than the one on HS, i guess u are safe.

p.s: thermal throttling means ur processor is acting @ lower speeds than the rated ones because processor temp is above the rated one.

Intel has more than one type of processor and not all their processors have heat problems.
Ninja(which sahpat was refering to) has a Northwood which has no heat problems.

I've ran my P4 2.4C @ 3.6GHz on air cooling and there was no throttling or heat problems present.

oic, ok then ... as ganth said "no they dont"

I think sahpat shud learn to talk good english before giving bad advices.. :/

ok this is the deal. my cpu is about em.. 37 in idle.. withotu cool n quiet.. and goes to 44 C when playing. i know thats normal, Idle shud be 5 degrees colder than full load, BUT im using Zalman 7000B-CU and i think the temps are alittle high for that on a Amd athlon64 3200+ 2.2ghz Socket 754

Ive like removed the heatsink from the 3-5 times and i put the thermal paste on with the finger.. *lol* (I was really a big nub back then) is that why the temps are alittle high..? im gonna put some AS5 there soon.. i hope it will go down at least 10 C..

[1] what is so funny depressing him with his cpu components?!
[2] he can overclock his 6600 to 6600GT core speeds with ease, will gain like 20%-25% from the overall card performance, use coolbits/rivatuners .. 3dmode overclocks
[3] he can overclock his processor using a mem divider .. for instance his processor got a multiplier of 11
-- 11x240fsb == 2640 "may be ur processor wont be able to get so high .. but probably will with a little increase in vcore"
-- then set mem divider @ 166 .. that'll make his mem run @ ddr400 and his processor @ 2.6ghz

Theres this thing called irony....

Anyway owd, Demagh pretty much gave you the low down.  Take it slow, take it easy... no one can predict how much u can clock it without actually doing it :-)  Good luck.

Depends of your luck m8.There is 3500+ which can't do over 2.4-2.5Ghz and also some lucky chips which can be clocked over 2.7Ghz easy without even voltage increase.RAM Kingston doesn't mean can be clocked

Hey..

I have a Geforce 6600 GT 256MB  Pci-x card in my computer.. and now I would like to do some overclocking

What's the best tools and what shall I do?

point out some basic things and some more advanced please..

If I change the Pci-x slot speed in bios, will that then improve my card or is it just bad for the card?

#422784 by tkmn (Power User) at 2005-10-19 11:14:34 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

This is my sempron 2600 - 288x8 @ 1.4V

I was aiming for a 50% OC, but 2400 is not stable at 1.4V

Also, my HTT multi is only at 2x, it gets unstable if I raise it to 3x. Now that doesnt make sense as it runs fine at 200x5.

Motherboard is an Abit KV8 Pro

#422826 by unknown[69445] at 2005-10-19 12:05:51 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

what info do ya need for overclocking

#422972 by unknown[95058] at 2005-10-19 14:03:14 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

this is what i managed to do

my cpu is a amd 64 with 3000+ whinchester

i got it up 2 2.2.5ghz with raising the voltages disabling T2 Timings and putting the htt speed up to 250mhz but if i go 1 mhz higher the system comes unstable as shit

and this is my gfx card i cant get it any higher other wise it artifacts would that be the highest it can go or is it cause i only have stock cooling

#423002 by unknown[2032] at 2005-10-19 14:29:19 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

What is the difference between T1 and T2 timings? And what are the results from turning one or the other off?

#423130 by demagh (User) at 2005-10-19 16:21:07 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

there is an overclocking guide right now in my profile:
for whom who wants to check it .. CLICK

p.s: alot to edit/add/screenshots will be added later ... so keep on checking
