@shoty
probably you will be able to hit 3.4Ghz with ease if your memory can handle it.

#776522 by unknown[58044] at 2007-02-05 17:53:36 (6 years ago) - [Report]Top

I got E6700,batch L629A, i was able to get like 3,8Ghz on stock voltages then raised the vCore to 1,3375, 1.50 vMCH (minimal value in BIOS ) and got 3,91Ghz, motherboard is P5W64 WS-Pro, single stick OCZ PC8000 RAM (the other was defect :/) 4-5-4-15 at 2.1V (which are the "default" OCZ Specs for my ram) . Right now  i have some problems with my Tuniq Tower cooler because one of the screws broke and good pressure cant be applied to all the sites, so i cant OC alot because it gets too hot, hopefully i will fix the screw soon and lower my temps with 20C, then i will probably be able run 4Ghz+ stable.

My P4 2.4C is running at 3.42GHz on a Zalman.
You should have any problems reaching there if you have good RAM.

Could be because of your RAM...
What brand and model number is your RAM?  Give a link to exact RAM if possible.
Try overclocking with 2 sticks of RAM, rather than 3 and see what results you get.
If you're using "value" RAM, don't expect to raise it more than 215-220FSB from 200.

Return the CPU to the stock frequency and increase the RAM frequency at the one you were trying to boot with, then run 10-15 loops of memtest86, if there is no error your ram is ok. These beeps are probably because your CPU is overheating, do you use stock cooler ?

Here is what i have got with stock vCore and damaged cooler :

More when i repair my cooler

edit: Now on 4021Mhz :

Did you try overclocking with 2 sticks?

I just noticed you're using a VIA chipset motherboard
They don't overclock well...and 99.9% don't feature a functional PCI/AGP lock.

VIA motherboards are the worst :yucky:

hey all... I have a winchester amd 3500 64bit cpu and 1gb of ram pc3200 ddr 400mhz but I don't know how to overclocking it that well! I oc the cpu to 2.35ghz from the normal 2.2 in my bios using Async but left the memory (RAM) settings at auto. Now my ram reads 213mhz x 2 from the normal 200mhz x 2. The CPU temperature reads 36 or so celsius at idle and low cpu useage thanks to the help of my FATAL1TY massive cooler smile.gif

Is there anything else I do to overclock? I don't know how to change the dram timing and all that. I try to do it but I messed up because I get blue screen of death, and somehow my vista went to default as in no desktop icons and all that mess, kinda like when u first boot up after installing vista sad.gif

Any advise on more overclocking?

thanks!

Would it not be easier to overclock my AMD X2 4200 with AIBOOSTER ?

Hi guys, just builded a new computer to my brother, what do u think of this for a start.

    TwinMOS DDR2 PC6400 1024MB CL5, x2 ( 2gb of ddr2)

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Socket

    Gainward GeForce 7600GS 256MB 1.4ns DDR3 ( will buy one more so i can use SLI )

Asus P5N-E SLI, nForce-650i SLI, ATX,

    Samsung SpinPoint P120 250GB

think this computer will be pretty good, surely not the best u've ever seen but it will be enough to play all the new games =). please PM me what u think

^ thats a nice setup but you'd be so much better off buying a better vid card than going sli with 7600gs's

Yeah that might be true, but still i dont think it will be laggy with 2x 7600gs, and if i'll just buy any other card =)

I think this is the best topic for my issue.

My e6600 is running at >40'C on stock speeds while idle. The cooler is zalman cnps9000, I also bought some funky Nexus thermal compund (couldn't find anything better at the time). The fan is running at max speed (through fanmate).

I don't think it's supposed to be that high.

Edit: added some info

Go for an ATI 1950PRO/XT those cards cost virtualy nothing nowadays and give way better performance than 2 7600's in SLI.

ontopic:

Since this topic is about overclocking.

Case: CoolerMaster Stacker 810 unmodded (yet ) with 5 120mm fans

PSU: Tagan Easycon XL 600W

CPU: Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz at 3.0Ghz (9*333) 1.3V vCore, cooled by a Zalman 9500CU

Main: ASUS P5K Deluxe, no changes made here just the FSB increase

Ram: Corsair Dominator 4x1GB 333Mhz 4-4-4-12 timings 2.1V. Since the ram is made for 400Mhz 4-4-4-12 i might get the timings a bit tighter but havent got the time to test that yet.

GPU: HIS ATI HD2900XT, i've changed the 2D profile so the cooler doesnt makes so much noise while in Windows. Haven't changed the 3D profile since the card get's hot enough already.

HDD: 2x 36GB Raptors for windows and games. and some more HDD's for the lovely torrents here to store.

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit

here a link with more details and a pic! Link

can i oc my MSI X1950PRO PCi-E 256MB GDDR3 2xDVi

#833717 by unknown[140482] at 2007-09-15 22:44:16 (5 years ago) - [Report]Top

You can use ATI-Tool for that.

It can automaticly test your maximum settings for your core and ram.

If your pc crashes or freezes, then your powersupply is probably not strong enough to handle the extra power needed.

Hey guys, my CPU has an unlocked multiplier.
Does this mean I can boot into bios and simply adjust the multiplier to OC?  I'm led to believe that, but I don't have much experience with OCing and I'm not willing to test anything on my rig like that.
