I had been ocing my rig and i cant seem to get +400mhz perfectly stable. i touched +500 but that lasted all of 10 seconds.. I just want +400 to be stable in the end

What i have:
3200+ venice
DFI lan party s939 ultra-d
OCZ premeir @ 2.5-3-3-7 2x512 ddr pc3200

What ive tried:
raised vcore to 1.475v
raised dramm to 2.6V
raised chipset a lil too (cant remember)
i have the multiplier at X10 with FSB of 241
i have the divider at 166 (5/6) with all timings up one for my ram.
ive tried the 150 divider and the 180 and still no go.
Also try'd the mulitiplier at x9.
ltd/fsb ratio is at x3 instead of x5

Any ideas? FYI i may have forgot something, so pls lemme kno what u think.

try raising voltage of ram to 2.7v did it for on my old 3000+

@slack4life

[1] what is ur power supply? brand/power
[2] what is the original vcore? u got venice or clawhammer?
[3] try even a lower divider 133/200

p.s:
u may've mentioned that before, but i am kind too lazy to look in the whole thread.

cool thanks PCgamer, and demagh (in PM)

its stable at 2.7ghz at 34C atm, with the stock cooling, it was at 24C with a house fan funnel to the heatsink!1 But that was loud

Excuse my poor English and grammar for now... its 3:56 AM orso...

Upgraded my cpu cooler from a arctic freezer pro 7 to a scythe ninja plus revision B.
Mainly because the freezer has such a audible noise when the fan runs at a high speed while I don't even hear the scythe ninja plus fan at all (note, revision B).
Plus the scythe ninja plus rev.b cools a bit better.

Now my cpu (core2duo e6600 " 3.6 Ghz) is now idle at 29-33 Celcius and under load it is between 36-44 depending (depends which game i am playing (guildwars as example - 36-38 celcius, and 44 celcius when prime85 testing)

Used to have idle at 34-36 celcius, forgot how much it was at load...

The Arctic Cooler Freezer Pro 7
- is very cheap
- cools pretty well
- fits any case
- noise fan at a high rpm.

The Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B
- reasonable price
- cools very well
- might have problems with certain cases
- might have problems with certain motherboards where the memory sticks are too close or too high.
- very silent fan, even at high rpm.
- weight doesn't seem much of a problem...

having a nice case air flow helps too

For those having a Cooler Master Stacker 830 with a Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard:

If you use the 4x140mm fan bracket panel at the side of the case, you have to remove the one above the cpu if you plan on using the Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B cpu cooler when having the fan blowing to the back exhaust.
Because you can't close the fan bracket including the side case panel when having the fan thing installed above the cpu.

Also you have to lower the fan installed on the cooler entire down till it hits the memory stick.

If you don't use that fan bracket side thing, you could simply just remove it.

For those wondering what the hell I am talking about - 3 pics of the side fan bracket.

Could get it higher. Check output of your PSU and make sure it doesen't fluctuate more than +-5% (Depending on alot of factors, had mine running stable at +-5% with a Fotron for a while) under a stresstest.

Keep tweaking!

I overclocked my winchester amd 64 3500+ xp from 2.2 ghz to 2.3ghz and my ram went from 200Mhz ddr1 to 210Mhz.  Temperature at max load with my Fatal1ty CPU cooler was at 40C but somehow my system keep on rebooting or shut down completely on me.  I have a no name board, AS Rock Dual SATA2.  Do you guys know what I can do?  Is it shutting down because the ram/cpu is too hot or is it something else?

How do I check if my UPS is outputting constant voltage like vizlan stated?  My UPS is the Ultra X-connect 500 Watt.  I have a heat spreader over my ram, and the cpu fan is so big that it cools the ram also but I do notice it got lot warmer.

Please help!

I use speedfan myself to check voltages

When exactly does it reboot ?

#745684 by unknown[47899] at 2006-12-12 19:48:36 (6 years ago) - [Report]Top

it just reboot randomly.... some time during encoding with dvd-rb, sometime just by itself ............ i do notice my UPS do get hot ........ I don't understand though.  The UPS has two fan and getting good air intake

Edit:  my VCoreA sometimes go to 1.41-1.42V and my VCoreB goes from 1.46-1.47V so I don't think its the UPS.  Also +5V is stable at 5.13V

stay under 52° with the venice

I mean max temp, check it after 1 hour of SP2004 small ftt test. And then let the test go on for 8hours or so. Then use the other tests so you'll test ram as well.

i tried to test my computer with prime 95 and i have no clue why its not running correctly as should

I overclocked my Intel 6600 to 3.4 Ghz
I have an Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 heat sink

I just have a question regarding my temperature readings.

Using Speedfan my idle CPU temp read 57C
Using coretemp my idle CPU temp is 48C

1) Which one is more accurate? There is a 9C difference.
2) Are these temps too high?

Coretemp is more accurate.
Your temperature is a little suspect though...Are you sure Coretemp is not the one reporting 57C?

Run Orthos and let us know what you get with it running at full load.

Yes I am sure about the idle temperature readings
57C Speedfan
49C Coretemp

I ran Orthos for 3-4 mins and the temperatures were quite high
69C Speedfan
60C Coretemp (both cores are similar)

I'm thinking about lapping my heat sink.

That cooler of yours sounds good, but I was unsure and just googled it and came over this: http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/freezer/index5.php

If that site represents the truth I would probably look for a replacement, hearing your concerns about the temperature and all. I have a very big cooler, Tuniq Tower 120mm, but it's really effective. Something similar could maybe be something for you?

About the temps you could try "Intel Thermal Analysis Tool" or TAT. Even though I think it gives the same results as CoreTemp.. not sure tho. Good luck

Like suggested, download Intel TAT, and see what temps you get.
I'd say you have a 99% chance of it reporting the same temp as Coretemp.

Either get a better cooler (Scythe Infinity), turn down your overclock, or lap your heatsink.

Try to make sure your temps dont go past the 60-61C mark (full load).

Coretemp 41C
Speedfan 52C
TAT 44C

I guess TAT is probably the best approximation since it's in the middle.

I bought my system built by NCIX.com and the heat sink was installed by them so I don't know what kind of thermal past they used or how much they applied. I have some AS ceramique that I will apply and let you know if there is any difference.

Use a high percentage (90+) Isopropyl alcohol or Acetone to dissolve whatever thermal paste they used and apply your Artic Silver.

Just to keep you updated...

I lapped my heat sink and applied my AS Ceramique and my orthos temp is down from 60C to 53C (With TAT)

I noticed that whoever built the system (NCIX.com) used way too much thermal paste.

Hey, I've got an Atlhon 3700+ 939, asus a8n-e, 1gb kingston 3-3-3-8. I'm using this cooler:

http://www.hardplus.com.br/0708k803.php

Is it safe to try to overclock it to 2,6ghz?

If yes, what steps should I follow?

Thanks.
