I have an X850XT.  HAvent run 3dmark so I cant help you there.  Prime95 is stable though.  Superpi at 1M I get 19 seconds.

dang that rig with the same card I have? granted I do have the AGP PE x850xt.

well I will definetly try your settings out, I'm sure it'll be pretty impressive, thanks for the advice again

Yep, I just bought the video card to hold me over until I upgrade to DX10.  Its only meant to last a few months.  It shouldnt be any better than the AGP btw.

Yeah I knew that, I noticed this motherboard will also support quad-core kentsfield cpus with a simple bios update, pretty impressive.

edit:  Well we did it, had to update bios, for some reason revision F4 was totally unstable, the latest one worked just fine and it's pulling 5500 marks happily at 2800 mhz...your settings worked great, now if he just got a better heatsink, and a proper VGA cooler and we could break into the 6-7 thousand mark range

i got the e6600 on a gigabyte 965P-DS4 motherboard, i successfully overclocked it to 3.2Ghz (400x8)@1.35 vcore bios in the first 24 hours, "didn't expect my memory to hit DDR2-800@5-6-6-18", but it did. system was prime stable before i went to sleep, and hopefully "didn't see it yet" it is still stable.

problem is, i got my hopes high and wanted to reach 3.6Ghz, but the maximum stable i could reach was 3.45Ghz@1.475vcore, with relatively high temps than i expected. right now i am using the freezer pro 7, but i guess it is time for a new cpu cooler.

Any tips and tricks regarding this motherboard anyone could share?!
I tried 900x4, but it won't boot at all:
- disabled every thing possible
- raised FSB + 0.15 "0.25 when i was desparate"
- put active cooling on the chipset and raised other voltages.

but it just won't boot @ 3.6Ghz, so, any ideas?!

i suggest:

-raising vcore to 1.5 at least
or, if u dont trust in your RAMs, try 3.6GHz with 5:4 ratio.

actually with DS4 there is only 1:1 ram, other than that u can run your memory faster than MB FSB. meaning 4:5 ratio no 5:4 ratio available.

it is probably my ram, tested it with memtest @ 3.2Ghz and they seem to work ok with no errors for like 70 complete loops

when i raised the CPU frequency to 3.6ghz@1.4volts "the system actually stood up this time, probably after the memory burn in (which i don't believe in theoretically)", but then memory@ the same speed previous speeds (400x2) gave me 100 errors in test 5, raised voltages a bit, but seems that it doesn't like more voltages, cuz they just increased the number of errors by 30% once, and 40% when i lowered the voltages.

anyway, i'll try a friend's DDR-800 memory kit may be by the beginning of next week, if it worked fine, i'll probably get better memory soon

EDITED:
why i am not suspecting the processor?
-- it seems that the system boots on 3 stages:
stage [1] : memory check, if not ok, system will stop booting and DS4 motherboard will automatically try restarting the system itself.
stage  [2] : processor check, if not ok, system will stop booting and DS4 motherboard will automatically try restarting the system itself.
stage  [3] : vga check, if not ok, system will start anyway with no posting screen

from what i see, the processor fan is not even starting to loop when memory settings are overloaded.

anyway that's just a theory.

I agree that its probably the memory.  Stick some decent 800 in there and ill bet youll have no problems.  e6600 can definaltey reach those speeds with stock cooling and 800 ram.

it is more likely dependent on the revision of the processor, but anyway, i'll report back later.

p.s:
i guess what is causing great instability is the temps, they are becoming too high to be true, which is astonishing IMO, will try the stock cooler and compare it to the freezer pro 7, right now i am running dual prime for like 5 hours or so @ 3.2Ghz 1.36vcore, and temp is reaching 54 @ full load full CPU fan speed, something just doesn't seem right.

EDITED:
i downloaded a program called core temp, ppl on other forums claimed this is the most accurate, most favorable, most .. bla bla .. program in monitoring your core temps, astonishing enough, both cores @ full load @ 1.36v were reaching around 65-69c in both cases, the freezer pro case and the stock cooler case. i realized the freezer pro is kind of not installed properly as the copper round thing in the DS4 motherboard is kind of annoying as it seems for some fan design, anyway i am going out now, getting back home with a thermal paste, will settle for the freezer pro right now.

oh, i didn't mention while speedfan is reporting temps 55 with "freezer" and 58 "stock", core temp was talking 65-69, which to believe?! i don't know

speedfan tells the temp of cpu's surface, while Core Temp, TAT, and Everst tells you the real temp of cores.

yeah, i figured that out, but i just couldn't believe the difference could surpass 11c

anyway, i think i'll be needing a better cooling solution, and i forgot to bring a thermal paste with me -.-

demagh your temp is high >.<
Mine is clocked at around same but much cooler, probably thx to my case cooling.

can u please check the coretemp program? and let me know what temps are u getting with it?! i will apply a better thermal paste, and then report here later.

Comparing to somebody with no problems is the only way to figure it out. All these software temp monitors are notoriously inaccurate.  I have yet to find one that makes any sense.

i just realized something:
when running memory 1 to 1:
-- cpu frequency is mistakenly recognized in my computer at certain speeds "(400x8)= 3.6Ghz?!!!!", memtest, and coretemp, guess this is a chip related issue, other than that CPU-z and everest are reporting correct speeds.
-- there is pretty recognizable performance gain regarding memory performance, didn't expect that to happen, thanks to ganth illustrating in some other thread the "memory strap" thing
-- when memory is 1:1 i guess both processor and memory are pretty much stressed more than any other ratio, as to maintain stability in 1:1 case, i have to raise more system voltage even if running same speeds.

anyway, still didn't get the thermal paste and still waiting for the DDR-800 trial.

p.s:
core temp is giving pretty much identical results like intel temp monitor tool and everest, i'd trust what it says over other programs i guess.

EDITED:
corrected information, mixed things together when i last posted "directory SWAP", please re-read

EDITED:
actually i doubt it is the memory, after realizing that the optimum settings should go 1:1, i lowered CPU multi till x6, and kept raising fsb, running memtest, then restarting, rainsing fsb, memtest, restarting, raising fsb ... etc.

guess what?!
my rated ddr2-667@5-5-5-18 patriot kits, reached (457Mhz) DDR-914@5-5-5-18 100% stable memtest and windows applications "been gaming for about 2 hours now", with only 0.175 raised in vdimm voltage "active cooled them of course"

what's next?
will try lowering cpu temps before pumping multipliers up

Hey, i really want to overclock my cpu. Its a dual core 2400mhz AMD. Ive looked in bios but i cant overclock from there. Is ther any program or similar that can do the job for me? all the programs ive seen only monitors heat and other stuff, you cant actually overclock with them.

Another thing, in bios it says my cpu is 52c, while in AIDA it says 24c, which one should i trust?

Try increasing Vcore. Highest I've seen so far on air is 1.525v, though thats not recommended unless you know what your doing

Get a better cooler?
Overclock from Bios?
Increase FSB to 400?
Increase CPU voltage to 1.4v in Bios?

i am overclocking from the BIOS, I have the guru open so you can see the temperature. I will play with the other stuff and see how it goes. Xanks.

Hi there guyz , i'm a total n00b with overclocking and i tried to overclock the processor and the video card but i think i didnt do it correctly cuz my pc reboot by itself every 45 mins cuz of overheat i think.

Is there any tutorial on how to correctly overclock everything?

You cant just pick a random number that sounds nice to you.  Overclocking has to be done in very small increments until you find the maximum you can go without any adverse effects.  Download a program like prime95 after overclocking.  You can use it to test your systems stability and go from there.

@faitch
take a look in my profile for the stability testing and monitoring temp sections

Use Core Temp to measure temperature.

I had been ocing my rig and i cant seem to get +400mhz perfectly stable. i touched +500 but that lasted all of 10 seconds.. I just want +400 to be stable in the end

What i have:
3200+ venice
DFI lan party s939 ultra-d
OCZ premeir @ 2.5-3-3-7 2x512 ddr pc3200

What ive tried:
raised vcore to 1.475v
raised dramm to 2.6V
raised chipset a lil too (cant remember)
i have the multiplier at X10 with FSB of 241
i have the divider at 166 (5/6) with all timings up one for my ram.
ive tried the 150 divider and the 180 and still no go.
Also try'd the mulitiplier at x9.
ltd/fsb ratio is at x3 instead of x5

Any ideas? FYI i may have forgot something, so pls lemme kno what u think.
