I believe that both parties encountered different situations simultaneously on different parts of the island. Remember, Ana Lucia and the group were still a day away from the other survivors.

* Throughout the end of the episode, TWICE, you will notice that the camera angle is behind a couple of branches as if Sayid and Shannon are being watched.

* You will notice that both Sayid/Shannon and Ana-Lucia are not in the same frame. Which means they could be in two total different locations.

* Yes, Ana-Lucia pulled the trigger and her gun was empty, BUT, if you notice she is holding the gun in her RIGHT hand with her LEFT hand supporting the bottom of the gun. After that they quickly show Sayid staring at the killer who is holding "SOMETHING" in the LEFT hand and to the side.
(Look at the GIF, does not look like a gun...)

* Ana-Lucia wears a wedding ring on her LEFT hand. The killer is holding the weapon in the LEFT hand is NOT wearing a wedding ring.

* You will notice that Jin and Michael are carrying Sawyer and have not caught up to Echo and Ana-Lucia. Don't you think if Michael heard a woman scream out "Walt! Walt!" he would run to see what Ana-Lucia was shooting at? Instead we see Ana-Lucia and Echo staring at something with Michael and Jin SLOWLY walking behind. (I know he wants to help Sawyer but wouldn't he drop him and run to see who was screaming his kids name?)

* This last point is flakey but I will count it. When Sayid looks at the killer I get the feeling that he KNOWS the killer and hes not only pissed off but questioning why would the killer kill Shannon.

Oh, and this does not look like a gunshot IMO...

But something like this might make a wound like that ?

Or I could be wrong and you can all laugh at me... we will see next week

100% agreed. The show is getting boring and dragging, the character-development slowed down as well, I am damn bored off Michael saying: "they took my kid" all the time ... This episode was meant to be one of the best episodes of the 2nd series, but I think it had only 2 minutes "action", and too much "filling".

instead of making the plot even more complex think of it that way...

you hear a gunshot... and Ana Lucia shot...but she didn't shoot Shannon...maybe she shot at someone/something that was attacking Shannon... but she was too late because this "something" already wounded Shannon that in conclusion led to her death...

it sure dont look like a gun to me. why? if you hold a hun, you hold it in the 'grip' whit the opening pointing down or front - but in the picture we se something mor like an rifle witch is hold somewere in the middle on the upper side, whit the opening pointing forward. it is defenently not ana-lucia who shot shannon

its not a sword, its a hunting knife and who is the one that has all those knieves. Unfortuantly one of the idiot actresses let slip who was the killer a few months back so its really not a suprise

Where do they come from?

I've missed half a dozen episodes along the way so there's a few plot gaps at my end. I've watched all of series 2 so far though and i'm gonna stick with it now.

Anna lucia didn't kill shannon! Don't you understand? It was danielle (the frensh woman).
There is alot of evidance.
1. The pipe on the ground. (means that they were close to danielles hut or where she lives)
2. The shot sound. It wasn't a pistol shot, it was mor like kind of shotgun. (I know alot of things about guns)
3. Remember when danielle first time took Said to her place and punished him because he didn't tell her where Alex "her son" was.... She was more like fond of or in love with Said, and she didn't want that said left her lone when he wanted to go back to the other survivors. So she maybe became jealous on shannon, and killed her.

By the end of this season we will know exactly why flight 815 crashed, and in the next episode: "Violence erupts..", "Locke and Eko learn more about the video"

Nevertheless, the next episode (tailies story) will show us who really is Libby; she doesnt seem "friendly", although her being a psychologist poses some doubts. But that will be solved once they look at the flight manifest. Also, there are theories that Libby helped in Cindy�s "abduction".

Sayid clearly knows the person who harmed Shannon.

Desmond left with a gun too; maybe he is with Danielle. The point here is that the Ana Luc�a and Shannon scenes are different on purpose. Producers say "there are no mistakes".

the problem whit the rifle-theory is that most of the guys on the island have acsses to rilfes from desmonds "gun room".. see? basicly everyone who know of the hatch location could have gone there, grabbed a gun and killed shannon...

but i too belive that the best guess would be on the french chick

Good theorys. But I think it's also good to have a look at what evidence there actually is of it being ana for real!

so this is the best I could come up with to prove you all wrong (altho I do think it wasnt Ana

but, then again its the best I could come up with to prove you all wrong, and the evidence of it not being Ana is pretty darn good (specially the hand where the person is holding the 'weapon').
