"Would you like to see religious and political topics banned from the site?"

Who cares?!?
Yes.
Yes - they only bring out the worst in others such as hate.
No, they don't bother me I can participate in them just fine.
No.

I'm remaking this topic. Sorry about the lost posts guys. There were some good ones in here.

i voted for yes...becuase i get wound up by some peoples point of views...and have gotten very close to being warned on several occasions  but thankfully we have nice moddies

if ppl agree with me all the time then i would like to talk political and religious

#326490 by unknown[99817] at 2005-08-09 01:00:38 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

No,

Thought we had a civilization here? If we can't discuss religious/political topics, then close the forums. People need to grow up!

A advice would be, to make a new category called 'Religious/Political chat' with a new set of rules. If someone doesn't follow those rules, then give him/her a forum ban to that particulair forum.

Then you should stick with the kiddie topics so you don't get wound up...as they say..if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.

I agree with Pavosos' idea on the new forum..and banning people from that forum who do not behave correctly

:weep:  There were such great replies here before.

Anyhow, my stance is obviously 'keep them', but I like the idea of a separate forum... it would most definately keep things neater and more civil, especially since you could bypass warnings and just remove forum rights to anyone who does things wrongly.

I vote no, dont ban them.  They are very interesting.

I like Pavosos's proposal, ban people from the Political forum if they get too over heated about it.

Does it really make a difference?  No!

Some people are so tight fished, narrow minded, conservative, etc, they only see their way or no way.
The problem is people taking it to personal.

If it in chit-chat or in seperate section, it not going to make a difference.

If you cant standing seeing other people point of view, don't click on the thread.

There a old saying,

If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

New forum would be a great idea. They should also ban smilie tags from there, god i hate when people start to undermine others with 's - no matter how strange their views are. Also more strick policy about off-topicness.

Seriously tho, without those topics you could forward the whole chit-chat to trash. Nicely heated up discussions are the best forums have to offer.

Pavosos wrote well enough. I support this idea.

Whats the point in creating another forum?
Is it gonna change anything?

I say ban it full stop
people are never going to see eye to eye when it comes to religion.

Politics on the other hand is not to bad,tho religion can get dragged into the same topic, so maybe that will have to go also.

shame

getting into the mind of most ppl .. i had to say YES .. ban those topics .. especially religious ones .. cuz all religions are stating -at least in some part of it- that all other religions believers are going to hell .. and the only religion going to heavens is ours ...

away from who is right or wrong .. but would u like to be faced by someone stating ur religion is fake/false/has been changed alot/non-sense..etc. every now and then?! that just creates an evil spirit between the members of the site ..

like for a christian, muslims/jews/hindus/non-believers are going to hell, for a muslims .. all the previous are going to hell, for a non-believer .. all going to hell including himself

about the political thing .. i guess ppl are not offended much when other's are opposing them in a political point of view .. America is Evil .. Iraq is some bunch of suicide bombers .. palestine is the Jews land .. but the point is .. are these PREVIOUS BOLD fonted topics really 100% political or religiously stinked?! hard to keep it 100% away from religion

i am no offended by political issues if they are away from religion

@PAVOSOS .. nicely put in words .. but a 50,000 users site WILL NOT have 50,000 civilized users viewing the forums ... am i right?!

@CARPY ... u were faster in saying ur point .. which is the same as mine .. nicely put in words

That's right. Maybe a few read/reply in the forums. Still I think it's a good idea to have a seperated forum for those kinds of discussions. It's always a nice read, but only if the people can control there self, and not starting to bash/flame every last bit out of it.

dont care, argue about what u want, i will certainly join in

#327182 by unknown[22381] at 2005-08-09 12:39:16 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

No!

The seperate sub-forum and time banning people from there is an excellent idea. Or give them "special" nicknames hehe.

It's been said before that alot of users here are too young and just don't care about politics and religion. I know I didn't care years ago.

If I remember correctly on the old TB when they banned these kind of discussions the forums got a little...boring and looked like they've been taken over by 12 year olds. Then the good posters go away...

There are alot of intelligent people here and I must say I have learned alot reading their posts. Alot of stupid comments also but mostly they are written just so the poster can see the angry replys he gets. Ignoring the post is the worst you can do to these attention whores.

No, please.

Banning religious and political topics will severely weaken the strength of the Chit-chat forum and the forum community of this site, imo.

Perhaps there should then - to compromise - be made a political/religious/philosophical/etc. forum and people who are not capable of having a normal discussion should be denied (or have their posting priveledge - in this particular forum - removed) access to this forum. I dunno, just a suggestion.

In any case, I don't think these important topics should be banned from the forums.

#327280 by unknown[44874] at 2005-08-09 13:58:25 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

Yes. Ban them all!

Too much shouting
Not enough listening

Too many insults
Not enough tollerance

Too much stupidity
Not enough maturity!

If you swap the proportions of the above, you are entitled to discuss important political matters.

If you continue acting like children and you should be treated like them,
and have your right to discuss "grown-up" topics removed!

simple fix, remove the forum after all this is a tracker first, forum second.

my vote would be remove religious threads but keep political... but there was no such option so i went with no

I had the same thought. Religious debates do bring out the worst in people but political is open for discussion. But i voted to keep em both
