This is why Linux's version system is so much better - There's never a new 'version' of Linux, it just gets incrementally better, and you can upgrade at any point, as often as you like, and it's always the same OS.
No the Linux's verision system isn't really that good. It creates difficulties for hardware vendors to release drivers to a constantly changing kernel . And if we include all the different distros. Now we are in real trouble. About 300 different systemlayouts in different versions. No it's not always the same OS.
Sticking to FreeBSD until the GNU/Linux-people stop screwing around.

I'll switch to OS X for the win, since it is a superior desktop operating system in every regard.
Although I wouldn't follow suit if you like games.
slightly off topic, but can the staff please start using proper English? It seems hardly anyone gives a toss about it and it drives me nuts..
And when you are talking about Linux "versions" if there is such a thing, it depends what youve got.. SuSe for example is updated through YaST, Mandrake has there own MDK kernel and therefore requires specific updates from them, Slackware is so open you can update whatever you want with your own sources.. All im saying is with Linux you have a choice.. with M$ and MAC OS/X you're limited by what they give you.
There are varients with the kernel and Distro.. but if something works for you, theres no need to change it is there.. why update your kernel if the machine is secure and working fine... no need! .. if you update and things don't work you can get them to work with a little perseverence or roll back.. thats CHOICE! ...wooooo

It's interesting that you worry about it, considering that your own text is loaded with literary imperfection. Sorry for the ot, won't keep going.
