The guide I wrote about converting AVIs to DVD doesn't have any support for subtitles, but many AVIs you have come with additional subtitles too, so if you want to add them to your DVD, this guide is for you.
The first thing you need is to organize your files in one folder, all files you need is the video file (.MPV), the audio file (.MP2 or .AC3) and your subtitle(s), which should preferably be in .SRT format. An important thing to check (if you've downloaded the subtitles from somewhere) is if the file is synched to your movie. Usually the subtitle site tells you what AVI it's ment for, and if that's the same AVI as the one you just encoded to DVD then it's all fine (those who have subs that came with the release don't have to bother about the subs not being synched).
When you have all your files, it's time to open up DVD-Lab and create a new project. When the project window pops up, choose between NTSC or PAL depending on your source, and then choose which kind of menu system you want (choose Normal if you want a little menu, or choose Simple if you want a movie only disc) and press OK.
Now it's time to import your files to DVD-Lab. Open the directory where you put all the files in and drag & drop the video and the audio file to the Video & Audio box on the bottom of the screen. If you're files don't have any errors the status will be OK for both files. Now just drag and drop them onto the big Movie 1 window in the middle of the screen. Now it's time for the subtitles...
Step 2: Importing and configuring the subs
In the Movie 1 window there's a little blueish button saying Sub 1. Click it and a window will pop up. The first thing you're gonna do here is click the Import button and browse for your .SRT file. When you open it you'll see the content of the file. Now choose what language the subtitle has from the Subtitle Language dropdown box. To choose how the subtitles will look, click on one of the lines in the textbox, uncheck the Zoom 1:1 checkbox and choose Preview on black from the dropdown box under the preview window.
To the left there are options on how the text should look. Choose a setting from the dropdown box (the one that suits you best) and then click Select font to select the font and the size of the subtitle. If you need to adjust any margins you just click the Margin button and change the numbers there (useful when the text should be lower than it is). This is an example on how it could look:
This image has been resized, click here to view the full-sized image.
If you're movie is NTSC you might wanna choose From DF source instead of Real Time (25fps), the subtitles can go out of sync if you choose the wrong one. (PAL users always choose Real time (25fps)). Now just click the Generate Subtitle Stream and DVD-Lab will render the subs and add them to your project (Repeat this step for every stream you want to add, just click Sub 2, Sub 3 and so on instead of Sub 1).
Step 3: Final things to do
All you have to do now is make a little nice menu (I won't be covering that here) and compile the DVD, and there you have your subtitles

yeah and when DVD is corrupted, or have bad audio, or video, you can use timecode fixer.
