They kill off Carson... just to bring in stupid new characters.
They remove Weir (thank god) but then bring in Carter ... doesn't make sense at all.
For the new season they remove Carter again ... and have Woolsey lead SGA ..that is just the worst move ever. O and Carsons gets to return for a few eps.
TBH... bring back SG1 and keep characters where they are supposed to be.

All this switching around isn't good for the show, and also not for the actors.

i think the switching is most likely because of the actors, the writers would have to change the story to suit the actors coming and going, usually if a character is made into a casual to the show its because they have things going on in real life and cant be available for all the episodes, which is the case for
carter

yea, i hope the movie is awesome aswell...
And hopefully if they are smart they will bring the show back.

They still have it, in atlantis they have 2 ships with the asgard beam weapons when they are fighting in a massive space battle against the replicators and kicks their ass.

one of the episodes that are really good.

Ah, I'm starting to watch Atlantis soon. Thought I really am not buying that Baywatch Hawaii dude in it. Basically, it seems like a teen rip off of the original Stargate, like that parody in the 200th episode

/first GOD it's good to be back on TB! This is the only place I discuss SG/SGA....travelled for a few months and my account expired....bye ratio 1.7...hello 0.0...ANYHOW...back now

Totally agree, the wraith used to take a bit more than a few short taps of the MP4, or 4-5 shots from a pistol. I'm sure at one point they were unloading clips on the wraith and they'd still be moving forwards....

Their re-generation ability seems to have been written almost out of the story.

Agree that was an amazing EP tho!

@Cetramarius, SGA is really cool. There's a few annoying characters, but since SG finished, SGA's gone up big time

Any more on the leaked SG movie? Haven't seen it floating around yet

Anyone know if it's safe to download Ark of Truth?
I see it on many other torrentsites, but is it the final movie? I heard something about it being a workprint without the visuals in place. Are we still waiting for a final rip?

Hey guys, I need some help with SG-1...

Where am I in the serie, the channel that sends it never post anything about episode # or seson #...

Last season they've sent is where those nano tech guys got onboard the russian sub and where the asgardians blew up the ship they had named after o'neal in the fight agianst them...

Jackson messed up the assaisination of those goa'uls onboard a spaceship.
He played the servent of chinees looking guy...

Just guessing these episodes are within the same season as the channel sends SG-1 everyday, but now have started to send reruns from season 1.

Thx for any help..

The one where the replicators got in to the russian sub is called Small Victories which is Season 4 Ep 1 and the one where Daniel Jackson impersonated the chinese guys servant is called Last Stand which is Season 5 Ep 16.

I just saw the first episode of Atlantis, and I have mixed feelings.
I must say, on the outside Atlantis looks cool, but everywhere else it's a bit disappointing in the design. I hoped Atlantis would be so much more. Basically the interior looks like it's from the 70's.
-
btw, do they ever defeat these wraiths? It annoys me to know that these vampires will be a problem for the next 4 seasons.

#904214 by hanekDonor (Ralph Wolf) at 2008-02-21 23:37:26 (5 years ago) - [Report]Top

They haven't defeated them yet. As for the Show, it's definitively worth watching, although as with SG-1, has its fair share of fillers.

#904342 by Zlitt666 (Power User) at 2008-02-22 07:51:19 (5 years ago) - [Report]Top

Yeah I agree with hanek, Atlantis is worth watching. saw seasons 1-3 plus the Episodes 1-14 of season 4 in a matter of a few days, way better than what i've seen of SG-1 imo.
Fillers are fillers, but the story line is damn cool...

Thx for the answers about where I was in the SG-1 story line

edit: If you are going to get the season 4 episodes that are missing from torrentbytes  ex. from tpb there were alot of episodes with rather poor quality files there, think i downloaded up to 3 files of some episodes before i found 1 that was worth watching...

Wow, what an EP. Starts as one of the most boring in ages. Really felt like a filler, which doesn't make sense this late in the series. They really picked the pace up in the last 1/2 of the EP. Adding twists and turns everywhere, yet still making it look like it'd be contained in a single EP. Last 10 minutes is almost all cut to the action...no lead-in/panning, just 1-2 lines of text, then bang something happening. Pretty crazy. Finishing with Becket coming back (which I could have done with out), and a TBC, awesome!

I just noticed that the guy who plays the husband of Dr. Weir is the same guy from the Tollans!

Anyway, there is something I dislike about Atlantis. The main reason for going to Atlantis and staying there was to aquire new technology and knowledge of the ancients, to preserve human life and protect it from various threats.

Now this said, it is quite annoying that we never get to see any actual exploring of Atlantis. Instead, they go off fighting Wraith on boring planets just like they used to in SG1. While it worked in SG1 because of well written mythology, it seems an awful lot like repetition in Atlantis.

Wraith is basically just another skin for the goa'uld. Someone to take their place just so the series can be almost identical to SG1 - while in reality it appears as a flawed ripoff.

wraith arent really comparable to the goauld, maybe the jaffa or replicatos. The goauld were actually characters, but they cant really put a face on the wraith. they tried to do it with michael but it didnt really work. It was the same with the ori in sg1 s9, they introduced that hot chick from firefly as valas daughter, but other than that there were no actual ori characters, just armies

@Cetramarius, A team of good guys needs bad guys to fight, that's what it comes down to IMO. The show's focus seems to be far less on technology's discovery/use/tweaking than SG:1. I have a feeling this is to draw in more of the non-geeks who want to see fighting. Even McKay tries to act heroic, and has been heroic in many recent missions, what sort of R&D scientist is that from a guy who's far more valuable in the lab.

Tieol'c (sp) equivalent of Ronan shows this movement towards action as well. Tieol'c had a cause to free his people, used to take part on political councils, meditated, and did plenty of mind calming things, he was far more stable generally. Instead on SGA they swapped him for a 1-line pony who just blows shit up. He's nearly always seen sparring when not off world.

To me the shift is a result of the loss of the arch-type of Dr Jackson. He to me was the core of SG:1 drive. He was also the first person, who put the idea of enlightenment, via the naming of ascension into my head. Before SG:1/Dr Jackson, I had no idea such a thing was real. It was his quest that lead to the development of my own...

Peace,

All sadly true wadab. They just go fighting all the time, and very little intelligence is passed on to the viewer.

In SG1, you had Carter and Daniel that provided great insight into languages, cultures, technology and societies. This was the main successfull element to the SG1 series that I believe gave it great success, and made it unique oposed to other sci fi series.

McKay is just seen fixing stuff without being any informative or exciting. The chemistry between people is noway near as good as it was in SG1, and all this makes Atlantis just more like one of those generic sci fi series.

#905402 by unknown[35127] at 2008-02-24 20:11:28 (5 years ago) - [Report]Top

The funny aspect of McKay's character is that he nearly always talks himself into trouble and then when he tries to talk himself out of it.. it just makes it worse. Usually with the women like that one episode in the old mine , i laughed at that .

Ah well .. last episode seemed to have lots of stuff happening in it. Slightly wierd though but rather good. Old "friends" .

A question about SG:A & thoughts about last episode:
What happened to the genii?. I cant really remember what happened to them. Anyway i was almost sure that genii was behind the plague. Typing is probably off.
