Okay just for the record. I've only started with season 5 of SG1 now lol, and I see you still talking about replicators. I can't believe they're still alive and in the series still. 10 seasons later.

The whole replicators thing bugged me from the beginning. I was kinda OK with them in SG-1 but it's an annoying idea and it does kinda seem that every Sci-fi show has it's own Borg hell I'm sure Star Trek stole the idea too.

The thing that really bugged me was that the Replicators in Atlantis have nothing to do with SG-1 ones that's just more than a little bit maddening. Makes you wonder how many other species invented their own Replicators.

It is speculated though, that the replicators in SG-1 are made by the acients aswell, made after they left for earth after the war with the wraith.

It's already been revealed that the replicators were created by Reese, in the episode "Menace":

The Replicators were originally created by a gynoid (a female android) named Reese, who had been constructed by an advanced human culture in the Milky Way. Reese's personality resembled that of a spoiled young girl. She seemed to lack the ability to comprehend the consequences of her actions and understand evil in any meaningful way. She was also incredibly inattentive, quick to have temper tantrums, and difficult to reason with. She displayed severe mood swings that, coupled with her formidable physical strength, were often disastrous. All these childish characteristics may as well have been a manipulative intention to destroy Earth and infest it with the toys (her "children", in her terms), as O'Neill thinks pointing out that she lied from the start, and when she made the first replicator on the base already gave it the acid "defense" spray.

Apparently, Reese created the first Replicators as "toys" under her direct control. But when the citizens of her world became aware of the capabilities of the Replicators, they were alarmed and claimed she was "built wrong". Out of fear of being destroyed, she instructed her toys to protect themselves and their creator (self-preservation) and to make more of themselves (replication). However, the Replicators soon became too numerous to completely control, and escaped her dominance. In the end, they destroyed all society on her world, presumably by converting every usable substance into Replicator blocks. Reese escaped the catastrophe by "going to sleep", putting herself in stasis.

Eventually, the Replicators discovered a way to leave this galaxy, and travelled to the Ida galaxy, home of the Asgard, who discovered them on an abandoned planet. When the Asgard realized the danger the Replicators posed, they tried to destroy the scourge, but the machines adapted to the weapons the Asgard used to destroy them.

Yup Rahvin is correct and in the beginning they weren't human form just spider like things. They only evolved while in the time-dilation dilation field.

As far as we've been told the human form replicators in Atlantis called the Asurans have nothing to do with the other ones. They're a failed Ancient experiment to fight the Wraith.

since we dont know exactly who made reese (i count her as a replicator aswell) most people are speculating that it was indeed the ancients who made her.

"After the discovery of the Asurans in the Pegasus Galaxy, who were based on nanites not unlike those of human-form Replicators , who themselves were based on the nanites used by Reese , it was theorised that the two technologies could be related. It would therefore be possible that the scientist who created Reese was one of the Atlanteans who fled back to the Milky Way after the Ancients' war with the Wraith was lost."

Another great episode and we finally found out how they actually beat the ancients. This might be the first time in SG that they actually  followed a high budget premier/midseason/finale episode with another high budget  episode and not some low budget filler.

edit - btw almost forgot
add one more enemy ship to the grand total that they captured and subsequently destroyed

Yeah well I can't find it here.. And in general these days it seems hard to get the HD versions of TV episodes not just Stargate. But all through season 4 Atlantis has had a delay of few days with the HD version.. well that's fine but now there's no HD version at all..

Oh yeah and naming something HDTV doesn't make a 350mb file any better quality.. no matter the source :grumpy:. Anyways.. sure would be nice to have some proper quality for the 40" Full-HD next to me.

dont know about the series, but the movies are to come out:
Stargate Continuum July 2008 (USA)
Plotline: Ba'al travels back in time and prevents the Stargate program from being started. SG-1 must somehow restore history.

Stargate: The Ark of Truth 11 March 2008 (USA)
Plotline: SG-1 searches for an ancient weapon which could help them defeat the Ori, and discover it may be in the Ori's own home galaxy. As the Ori prepare to send ships through to the Milky Way to attack Earth, SG-1 travels to the Ori galaxy aboard the Odyssey. The International Oversight committee has their own plans and SG-1 finds themselves in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies

all i could find out about the movies
havent heard anything about any series at all actually, where did you hear about that?

and if you people find that the plotlines might be spoilers, you have my apologies.

Yeah not seen it here unfortunately, had to get it from usenet was well worth the wait to see in HD though. My HD TV finally put to some good use! Keeping a look out for E12 now.

Have any of you, during your adventurous voyages over the internet, encountered English subtitles that would fit the HDTV rips for episodes, mhm, eight or so onwards? I know it is rather easy to fix subs, but then again I am very, very lazy.
