Well, i just finished watching 2x20 and i must say..
Earth? How did they get their hyperdrives working that well? Or are they just going somewhere they think they can get the technology to get there?

Good ep with many steep cliffs, but thats the point.

Is it just me or did they just became stupid in the last episodes of SGA and SG1?

In Atlantis they got approached by the wraith, yes they didnt trust them, they even had the wraith data transfer downloaded to a non-networked computer with a firewall ( how they did that i dont know, or why a non-networked computer has a firewall hehe )
But in the end, some how they had let that code on the main network in atlantis, and thats not even the worst part, they somehow missed some program inside the data that was able to run, contact the wraith and send data to them... ofcourse they got to invent a way for the wraith to get information to create a cliffhanger, but the way it was done it just felt cheap and porly written and just made the main characters look like totally morons.. "*doh* we downloaded this pornpic of the wraithnet, and clicked yes seven times, , but now our comp wont start.. "

In the SG1 episode, miss carter talks about the weapon satelite as it was a childrens toy, 'well it doesnt looks like it has any defensive capabilities' .. ' its really slow, and its based on technology at thier level right now, so its not advanced' and so forth... HELLO Miss Carter?!?! they got it from the Ori you stupid /%&#%#/!!!!

And based on those words just looking on a non complete blueprint of the weapon they decide to go there without any special precations, oh and yes, they send daniel to negotiate with leaders that are under the influence of the Ori ( like that worked in the past ).
Surprise surprise, the weapon turned out to have more powerfull sheilds than anything else they have encountered before, and there asgard shields are as effective as spandex when it comes to stopping bullets against it.
The leaders under the influence of the Ori didnt listen to reason, infact they just arrested daniel and threathen to execute him. We didnt see that coming a mile away...

Hopefully they smarten up until the next episodes though..

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

The Prometheus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God damnit!!!!

On a side note:

Didn't they say that another Deadalus class battleship was almost ready...? About fucking time...call this one the hercules or something and load it up with "gate buster" nukes. No more pussy-footing around with missiles.

Idea: Go around with the new battle cruiser and start collecting the star gates off the Ori controller planets. That'd put a big fucking dent in their plan! How are the Priors going to visit without stargates? How will they continue to influence the population?

Idea: Start building more warships, faster. Its been like 5-6 years since the Prometheus was constructed,
may she rest in peace
how about cranking a few more of those babies out? Subcontract the Japeneese into building some ships ? Hmm?

Idea: Instead of making an anti-wraith "virus" (pussy virus) that turns them temporarily into humans, how about making a (lethal) anti arathi-bug version of, say, influenza or small pox? Something with a little incubation time so it spreads around effectively, doesn't need to be manufactured in big quantities... etc...? Its obvious to me that if they can develop one such agent in less than a year with the limited resources of an expidition team on Atlantis they should be able to cook up a super-bug in the Earth labs, ship it to Pegasus and let that sucker go wild. Who cares if the Wraith die in their thousands; its US vs. THEM. We'll never be able to make peace with them; they FEED on humans. They aren't human, rules of engagement need not apply. And - the bonus of this plan is - if the Wraith catch on and start building their own virus, they'll be forced to consider the consequences of KILLING OFF THEIR ONLY FOOD SOURCE. Its a win-win situation. And if I hear another "doctor" voice of reason from someone saying "ooooo we can't kill the wraith in a wash of genocidal glee; that makes us as evil as them" I'll punch them in the kidneys. Pussies.

Idea: Haven't the Asgard had enough time to get settled on their new planet? They built the "Daniel Jackson" battlecruiser in like less than a year after Thor's ship got thrashed, where is the new fleet of Asgard ships? Shake N Bake some more Thor copies, get some ships prepped, and then lets talk.

K thx bye.

Good idea(s), but that would kinda solve the entire season (series) in ten minutes?

But I must agree, the moment Carter said "oh yes.. we will crush it.. no defense" I thought of the drones which were built 10000 years or so ago and still penetrated Anubis' elite shields like hot knives butter.

I mean really... You'd expect better ideas after all the stuff she's seen.

If everything would go smoothly then there wouldnt really be anything to watch. I enjoyed the both episodes, although uploading the files into their network on Atlantis was kinda stupid.

The drones actually can go through silly things as shields, i'm sure our drones could take out an asgard ship just as easily aswell.

And the new ship is being introduced next episode, It's called the Odessy (probably not spelt right)

too much?

I still think my idea about confiscating the Ori world StarGates is painfully easy and obvious. Earth has the beaming technology, the ships and the motivation, not to mention MOST/all of the stargates are exposed on the planet surface, ready to snatch. For the friendly planets help them design a shield/iris, and BAM, Prior problem becomes easier to contain/deal with.

Just take all the "enemy" stargates temporarily until the whole Ori thing blows over. If they cant get into our galaxy, they aren't really a big threat; their galaxy is way way way further than even the pegasus galaxy, so ships aren't really an option either.

It sounds like a good idea at first, but when you think about it, it just can't be done for practical reasons.
Not trying to bash your idea or anything, but I doubt the writers would use it.
First, they need to know what the Ori are doing. How can they know that if they steal all the stargates from all the worlds they've visited? And how do they know they haven't missed any? It's not a complete solution.
Secondly, even if they had an entire fleet of ships it would still take them forever to ferry stargates. And shouldn't those ships be commited to guarding the Tauri homeworld (forgot its name :/ ) instead of flying off into deep space?

Oh, and aboout the bit just now about forgetting Earth's name... Call it lame, but I like the joke

Yeah, but the US had fought so hard in diplomatic negotiations with other nations concerning the Stargate program, trying to keep all newly discovered technology to itself. Their Russian play-puppet convinced the others saying it's best that America spends resources figuring out the technology, while her allies (Japan, GB, France...) get the end blueprints all nice and done a couple of years later.
And, while I'm sure China and Japan would be churning out battleships at a much faster pace than the US, it's more likely they would put pressure on having their own crew pilot the ships. The scales of power would shift, and the US wouldn't want that. It's arguably for the better...

Nice one, but the Wraith tend to stick with the hive and don't mix crews ofter. So, you'd need to deliver the plague virus to every single hive ship out there. Even then, I'd think they'd eventually find a cure to it. They simply are so much more advanced than us...
No, I'd have a hard time buying that if they did it on the show and it worked.
Unless the virus was based on the prior's plague :hmmm:

They'll probably show up when the script writers get a need for them :/

People are mostly complaining how
the Prometheus was lost due to incompetence.

Well, I don't see it like that. I, for one, like the fact that Carter hesitated and they all were reluctant to act (which was a stupid MISTAKE ), but unlike any other episode, here they paid the consequences. And they paid it with 20 lives. Serves you right, miss high and mighty! :ras:
We'll see if you make the same mistake next time!

Like Starbuck said in the last BSG episode, they'll eventually catch you on a bad day. They've had a loooong run of good luck with the Ori and it's time the battle got more interesting!

#532630 by unknown[22371] at 2006-02-05 01:20:52 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

Yeah. I know most of my "ideas" have rather large "unknowns" and "what if/when/eventually" but I just think some of their most recent approaches to problems have been... too predictable? Ineffective? I dunno.

I loved the old SG1 episodes where the SG project was a big secret, even from the US military, and a lot of the problems presented to jack/carter/daniel/tealc (the real sg1) were solvable only by experimentation/luck/using what they had on hand..."MacGyver" a solution if you will....

Now that they've brought in the industrial aspect of warfare (build this, this is an upgrade, look what we've developed, this is the 9th version of this, etc.) it seems that they are holding back a bit. Going only halfway with that approach to problem solving. Like - we're a country at WAR and we can build these ships but since its a TV show they only bother making ONE? or ONE at a time as they become necessary?

Its just getting a little contrived. Thats all I'm saying. The SG show is moving away from the awesome, threatening, limitless possibilities of what the team might run into on any given world and more towards these big over-arcing story lines with 20+ episodes where really very little is learned about the characters. I really liked some of the "stand-alone" episodes with Jack occasionally hinting he had a thing for Carter. For example,  the episode where he had a "ground-hog" day thing going.

Have they really explored and catagorized ALL the planets in the Milky Way galaxy? Obviously not.

At least with the Go-auld (sp?) each one was different, each one had different plans and tactics, each had different jaffa personalities, and they were sort of seperate...there was a real "freshness" associated with each new Go'auld that was encounted. Now its just Prior this and Ori that, blah blah blah. One of my main problems with the Priors is that they talk all doom and gloom, but when they run into SG personelle, time and time again they just TALK at them. They say they have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to resistance, so you'd expect that whenever a Prior runs into a SG person, he'd just go all Dark Jedi and crush their throats with a clenched fist, ala Darth Vader. But no - time for a speech.

Also, has anyone noticed how the Daniel Jackson character hasn't really been updated/developed in any way for a VERY long time? He used to be the HINGE of half the shows. Now hes just... there. Is he eye candy for the ladies? filler? I don't know. Where are the good old days of Jack saying "lets blow it up" and Daniel saying "wait; are you sure" ? How about, just maybe, we deal with the fact that Daniel has repressed memories of being ascended? How about a few episodes where he freaks out and remembers something vital that is happening on a distant planet and the team has to go and put things right? (I know its been done/dealt with but there is a GOLD MINE of neat story lines available w/ Ascended/Ancient knowledge just buried below the surface in Daniel)

One more thing: Vala. WTF. Talk about a "jump the shark" character. I can't believe they are bringing her back next season. Every time Vala has a line or acts seductive around the men she encounters I just want to scream. STOP RUINING A GOOD SHOW. She was GREAT as a single-episode guest character. But enough is enough.

Well i dont know about you but if this were real life the very first thing we would do is send a destroyer back to that planet and fucking nuke every single Ran city there for destroying Promethius, no good ori worshipping bastards

HEAR THE TRUTH! Not poor scripts, not even questionable decisions, not even poor storyline, but that bitchy character indeed IS the DOOM of SG! I gotta absolutely agree with you.

I don't like Vala either, i think they should keep her out of the show.

I also think that ben browder is a horrible replacement for rda, he played on farscape and that show wasn't that good either.

The writers made a good call when they wrote vala out of the show with that huge stargate thing

shes going to be a full time member of SG1 in season 10. Thats why I'm pissed, they should have left her dead.

I think Season 10 might just be the last season for SG-1, Atlantis will go on and i think they might adopt daniel or something, seeing as daniel is the expert on ancient having been ascended.

I think they need to explore some episodes based on the ancient knowledge daniel has in his mind. I mean come on, they haven't brought it up anymore since the episode where they killed all the replicators
(atleast i don't think his memory was erased that time?)

#533486 by unknown[22371] at 2006-02-06 00:24:00 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

Even if they SAID his memory was erased, they could easily say "oh, he starts having nightmares and it turns out there are some repressed memories..."

Stopping  with SG1 at S10, killing Vala in the first episodes of the season, getting Teal'C and Daniel to SGA, and giving Zelenka a more significant role, now all that would be awesome.

But somehow I doubt everything I said.

I can't wait untill the new episode is here

Dude...nothing is impossible on SG...think about how many times Daniel has died. Yeah.

I somehow don't see teal'c coming to SGA. Unless they kill off Ronin. And - Teal'c is needed to help the Jaffa get their shit together.

Daniel has ALWAYS wanted to go to Atlantis, I'm surprised he hasn't made an appearance there yet.

Since SG1 is taking a nose dive with Season 10 and bringing Vala onto Sg1 fulltime, I somehow doubt it'll make it to season 11. If it does they better begin some serious talks with RDA. Like throwing millions of dollars at him.
SG1 has been on a steady downslope since RDA left... imo.

Zelenka - I'm happy with his level of involvement in the previous episodes, but I agree his role could be amplified.

one thing that I'D like to see is Quinn come back, maybe while Daniel is at Atlantis or something...

Surely the actor that plays quinn isn't too busy

Quote:

Do you think it'll look different than the Prometheus? Remember - the new ship is a "Daedalus Class" warship... so... I don't expect much more than a different paint job

#534360 by AJMouseDonor (Anonymouse) at 2006-02-07 01:16:46 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

They dont really have a 'Daniel' on the SGA team do they? I dont consider Teila a 'Daniel' kind of character.. so Daniel could easily go to Atlantis imho.

That is, unless RDA returns (which ofcourse is unlikely blabla).. the only way to see RDA on sg1 is re-watch the old episodes..
