As I said before not 16th (Sunday) but 14th (Friday) of July and Sci-Fi Channel will air the first 10 eps of the new season first, TMN in Canada will always air new eps in HD 3 days after USA premiere, so for Canada it's 167 days till SGA season 3 premieres.

Does it matter when you start watching atlantis, if you have watched 7 seasons of sg1 ?

I mean, is there any point where the two series kinda coinside? Or is it just to start watching.

You know the writer will not allow the Wraith ships to get to Earth or our galaxy.

SG1 has the Ori to deal with along with Bhaal.  Why add a 3rd factor?

Atlantis will find a way to prevent it to happen.  So the Atlantis vs Wraith in the Atlantis galaxy will continue for next several seasons.

There no benefit in bringing the wraith to our galaxy if MGM can make more money with 2 different series.
MGM the producers of Stargate two series will keep it seperately until they milk Atlantis series a little longer.

Considering all the trouble the Wraith went through to get to Earth (losing fellow Wraith and ships), the same question keeps bugging me. I know it must have been discussed before, but here goes:

Why don't the Wraith grow their own food? I mean, wouldn't it be better to have farms with people chained up and fed fodder? It's way easier than running around planets (and eventually other galaxies) catching free ones in the wild.

I mean, people have learned it's far easier to raise cattle than hunt for it...

Wraith are stupid, they evolved from bugs... Aw hell, I don't know.

Wraith are predatory animals by their nature... I guess they like the hunt?

The question that keeps bugging me is why is it that the moment that the wraith were discovered why didn't Atlantians either go back home or destroy all data revealing Earth's location?

I suppose they considered themselves guardians of mankind. Remember: they, the Asgard, Nox and Furlongs (or whatever they're called) have been protecting people in our galaxy from the Goa'uld for so long. I figure when the war first began they weren't going to let the Wraith cull entire planets and as the war went on and they say they were fighting a downhill battle they did in fact retreat through the Stargate system, as was mentioned in SGA. Now, as for the reason they sunk the city and didn't destroy it, I'm sure I've simply forgotten the explanation.

There's one other thing I wanted to ask all of you. When exactly did the Wraith decide to break the Alliance? It seems like they went through too much trouble and loss for it to be a simple deception from the start. Michael, for one, tried to apologise to Teila and convince her that all of them had to put their basic instinct aside. He came off sounding really sincere and there were no hints that he was lying to her. In fact, he had little to gain from her support at that moment, as dr. Weir had already agreed to help.
Also, the two hive ships that exchanged fire. Both of them had taken heavy damage. I suppose they could have been putting on a good show, but the doubt still remains if they were in league with each other or not.

To me it seems like the queen was genuine about the idea of using the retrovirus, but after the initial test failed and resulted in critical damage to her only hive ship she figured she couldn't pursue the plan with a half crippled ship. That's when she made a deal with another faction to take advantage of the trust dr. Weir had given her and get Earth's location from their computer. By doing that, the queen would effectively put an end to the civil war and gain immense prestige as the one to lead the now reunited Wraith onto their new rich feeding ground.

So, what do you think? Do you agree with my version, or do you think Teila was right all the time and the Wraith have been planning it from the start?

Yes , at the begining of season 8 the show brakes in two . I recomand to watch season 7 , the last two episodes ( Lost City part1 and 2) and after u can watch the first from atlantis.

no no no. Its important to go back to SG1,season one,  episode one, and watch every episode TWICE up until the end of season 7. And then proceed to SGA: Season 1 and SG1: Season 8 simultainiously.

You need to watch all those previous episodes to really appreciate Ascention, the Asgard, ZPMs, The Ancients, the stargate system, X-301s, X-302s, X-303 (Prometheus Class) and then the ARRIVAL OF THE NEW DAEDALUS CLASS battle cruiser... ho ho ho... awesome....

They really are necessary and there are lots of really good episodes.

My heart broke when I watched Daniel Jackson dying after that dose of radiation... thats gotta be one of the worst ways to go...thats the first time I shed a tear watching a tv show/movie since I was 5 watching "Ole Yeller."

Or how about that episode where the "young" Jack Oneall shows up at sg1? classic!

Or how about that episode where Jack flies the aircraft drones for an alien army and is tricked into killing actual living pilots? He's pissed!

Or how about...

you get the picture. watch them in order. Period.

they did kinda.  when they turned the one wraith into a human the girl wraith killed him to "test if its really human"

spoiler just in case

I think your wrong on several occasions here

First, during the alliance that the ancients, nox, furlings and asgard had, there were no goa'uld in that galaxy conquering or whatever. The goa'ulds came much later when the alliance had already dissolved.
And the ancients never discovered the wraith, they CREATED the wraith by accident. One of those bugs presumably got mixed with human DNA and over time it evolved into the wraith. The ancients didn't destroy the city because they wanted come back one day, but they never did because of the plague that wiped some out and most just ascended when it happened. The wraith don't like water/die in the water so atlantis was safe on the bottom of the ocean.

The wraith didn't have anything to do with the alliance seeing as  the ancients left the milky way to go to pegasus and the wraith didn't exist yet at that time.

I think they planned on going to earth all along as they planted a virus inside the data they sent to atlantis to steal all the information from the computers. But it probably did have something to do with the fact that their ship had alot of damage so they allied themselves with another hive ship so they could go to earth.

This is mostly based of facts but i could very well be wrong on some points

Why was there an ancient  defensive platform on Antarctica?
I admit I don't remember the details very well, but I'd say the ancients were protecting people from something.

Really? The ancients created the Wraith? Why did they let them get powerful enough to cull entire worlds and build ships that could rival their own, given their greater numbers? :-O
If it's been stated in an episode, then I'm sorry, but I don't remember!

#530506 by unknown[89507] at 2006-02-02 16:43:53 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

The ancients left their own galaxy for the milky way because of the Ori, i can assume they build the defense platforms for any danger that came to milky way just incase, Don't forget the ancients were already gone atleast 10,000 years from the milky way and the ancient technology still far exceeds anything the goa'uld had.

The Asgard presumably got alot of their technology from studying the ancient database (for atleast 10,000 years!) and they still only scratched the surface (Thor said that in an episode)

And i don't exactly remember but on one of the Atlantis episodes they say that the ancients accidently created wraith.

And let's not forget the ancients were a peacefull race, they attempted to make peace with the wraith and failed. In the end they only lost because the wraith had such great numbers. And the ancients still cut the wraith fleet about in half.
(I believe the wraith got most/all their technology from ancients they torture or something, it hasn't been explained yet i think)

#530912 by unknown[22371] at 2006-02-03 00:14:52 (7 years ago) - [Report]Top

Yes its important to note that the ancients were a peaceful race. They were "Builders" not conquerors.

They "seeded the barren galaxy with life". It's really not in their nature to make war on another species, thats why the StarGate team has a small advantage with the Ancient Technology + hundreds of years of human know-how on how to make war.

I think the ancients probably dealt with the Wraith several times, but they kept coming back like a cancer.

The whole "hive ship" thing... and how we haven't dealt with how they breed.... they may be more like insects rather than people in that regard - having broods of hundreds of offspring at a time from each queen?

The Ori Galaxy is yet ANOTHER galaxy. Neither Pegasus or Milky Way. The ancients seem to have "gotten around" quiet a lot.
