Next one is called Vegas. I think we pretty much can conclude that it will be a filler, and it will go down in Las Vegas for some reason.

Last episode is called Enemy at the gate. I think enemies will stand around the Stargate, either in Atlantis or somewhere else, and fire upon the main characters. Then they have to come up with a plan to take them down. And they succeed. And thats the end.

so? what else should the final episode be about, them getting killed? FFS

I just dont understand why the fuck almost whole last season of a series is av "filler-season". Almost no progress whatsoever through the whole season.

Robert Carlyle has been cast as Stargate Universe lead

Press Release wrote:

ROBERT CARLYLE TO STAR IN SCI FI'S NEW ORIGINAL SERIES

STARGATE UNIVERSE

New York, NY - December 15, 2008 - Award-winning Scottish actor Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting, The Full Monty) has been cast in the leading role of Dr. David Rush on SCI FI'’s highly anticipated new original series, Stargate Universe, the latest adventure in the Stargate franchise produced by MGM television. Production will begin in Vancouver in February ’09 with an eye toward a summer 2009 premiere. Additional casting is currently underway.

"We couldn't be more excited to set Robert Carlyle for Stargate Universe. He brings a depth, intelligence, and complexity to his roles, which will fit perfectly with the fresh, new reinvention of this franchise," “said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President, Original Programming for SCI FI & Co-Head Original Content, Universal Cable Productions.

Edgier and younger in tone than the two previous series, SGU follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship missing in the far reaches of space. As they fight to survive, Dr. Rush (Carlyle) works to unlock the mysteries of the ship and return the group home, but evidence of his ulterior motives soon arises.

Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, co-creators of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis and who both currently serve as executive producers on Atlantis, will serve as executive producers and writers on the new series.

Carlyle is best recognized for his roles as Francis Begbie in Danny Boyle’s hit independent film Trainspotting and the stripper Gaz in The Full Monty, which earned him both a BAFTA and SAG Award for his outstanding performance. His career began in the UK where he gained attention in the British television series Cracker featuring Robbie Coltrane. He has starred in such films including 28 Weeks Later, The World Is Not Enough, Angela’'s Ashes and The Beach, where he re-teamed with Boyle. His television credits include the Emmy-winning miniseries Hitler: The Rise of Evil, and Human Trafficking, which garnered him an Emmyâ Award nomination. He recently starred in 24: Redemption opposite Keifer Sutherland.

Stargate Universe will debut as a two-hour movie event on SCI FI and will be distributed by MGM Worldwide Television Distribution.

You know what I have realised? That the Stargate developers are not good enough on their own to create good Scifi.

After seing alot of Star Trek lately, it's amazing how much Stargate has copied that. I could really refer to several Star Trek episodes in almost each SG episode.  So without someone to copy. Stargate can't stand on its own.

Thing is, the Stargate developers tried to do something new with Atlantis, and stop copying Star Trek like they did with SG1. And that failed miserably. Now they're trying again to create something, after failing once, I expect them to fail even more.

This new show is supposed to be about a ship? I think we have a good ship-show already, Battlestar Galactica.

Yep. Its definitely out. According to "hardcore" fans which has hated season 5, the series finale is "very satisfying".

Can't wait to see it

#1063861 by DarkRoadkill (Power User) at 2008-12-22 23:02:52 (4 years ago) - [Report]Top

I have to agree with "Very Satisfying". The final was the best episode of the season. To bad about some of the graphics, but the episodes are very watchable. Both can be downloaded from multiple public trackers.

I liked the ending, when the entire team was looking at the Golden Gate Bridge from Atlantis.

Wow they finally pulled it together with the last two episodes. Having said that I ask myself why they didn't put this much effort into the last few seasons.

Robert Carlyle. Holy something. Unless the show is going to be about a psychopatic maniac bent on killing and raping everything I can't see it working.

Yeah I guess you are right.

I mean it could be even worse, they could always put in Vinnie Jones as the shy scientist/anger management problems guy, Steve Buscemi as the charismatic and witty leader/bad man who abused his daughter and Amy Winehouse as the sexually frustrated scientist/butch feminist lesbian!
