Most because of the gender. But also because they are both more calm than the rest of the crew. Carter is well behaved and sort of selfrestrained from flipping out like McKay does, or Daniel for that matter.

I just saw the introduction of the replicators to Atlantis. And btw, thats proof enough that Atlantis is just a new skin for SG1, they had to have replicators in that as well.

Have I understood correctly if the Atlantians created _these_ replicators? In the pegasus galaxy? Do they have anything to do at all with the previous replicators from SG1?

And does anyone remember the episode with Reese in SG1? How long ago was her planet extinct? Cause I'm interested in a timeline. Didn't the Atlantians die out 10 000 years ago?

Saw Ark earlier.. .

In a way it was entertaining and yet disappointing.

You can clearly see the difference in quality and amount of special effects compared to regular tv eps. Obviously the bigger the budget the nicer it looks.
I miss watching SG-1 so I really liked it that there was new content to watch.

I'm a bit disappointed in the story tbh. Without spoiling anything, the endboss-fight was .. ... short ...
It was also disappointing to see how the anti-ori machine from the the last season was linked to this film.
Those who've seen it will know what i mean.

The bossfight reminded me of a wallpaper:
http://wallpaper.nl/wallpapers/447/Red_ … e/1024x768

So ark.. yeah.. nice sfx, cool to see al the characters again after being absent for so long..
but tbh, I rather have less sfx and a tv season that has a story stretched over several months than a single movie.

Now that the Ori story has ended (or has it not?) it opens up a lot of opportunities for new stories. I really hope they pickup SG-1 at some point and entertain us more. :o
By now ... the writers must have gathered big cannonballs to shoot with...

What oportunities does it open for? Cause I don't think it does. It just ended, there- bam.

Anyway, speaking of effects, does anyone notice that the Wraith lifesucking visual effects gets worse each time? Like they're finding new budget tricks to make it just okay. cause in the first episode of Atlantis when Agent Dogget and sucked, that was 20 times better.

sg1 had a lot of episodes that explored a single planet's cultures and people. Atlantis doesnt really do this, every single planet is exactly the same in that theyre all culled by the wraith and as a result dont have any technology, all of the episodes in atlantis are either about the wraith, the replicators, the genii, ancients or solely about the characters. They need more episodes about human evolution too, SG1 did a few about that and they were always good

Are you kidding me? Atlantis goes out on just as many journeys looking for allies as SG1 did. They originally wanted the Geni to be allies remember.

And basically, I think the wraith is highly comparable with the Goa'uld. Just look at these comon facts:
They both capture human bodies
They both use superior technology to do so
They both steal human lifes

The only difference is, wraiths eats life, while the goa uld takes over life.

Atlantis has the exact same goal as SG1 did, to free humans of the Pegasus galaxy from the Wraith, so they can live free and at peace. While SG1 had to free the humans from the Goa'uld so they could live free at peace.

If I got to be in charge, I'd say the Atlantis team gets all the ZPM's they need. Infact, they should learn how to make them. And then they power up the stardrive to fly the city back home to earth. Lands Atlantis in the atlantic ocean, and remain cloaked forever, being earths most powerful weapon forever. That would be a nice end to it.

That could be a nice end of the entire series, but only when they defeated the wraith in the Pegasus galaxy. Or maybe even reveal the secret of aliens and alien tech to the people of planet Earth, by flying in the city.

Yeah but we already know what thats like. We've seen it in a parrallell universe episode of SG1. The entire earth broke out in panic and they had to declare martial law.

#909832 by DarkRoadkill (Power User) at 2008-03-03 17:19:08 (5 years ago) - [Report]Top

Thats why it could be an end of the entire series so we have to imagine ourselves what could or should happen. Clearly its not a good idea to reveal it during the series, as stated by you.

#909921 by Snuffsis (Power User) at 2008-03-03 20:19:36 (5 years ago) - [Report]Top

I dont think that the people would go into a state of panic, knowing that we'll be guarded by the most powerful weapon ever made... atlantis, historians would go crazy because this would mean that the story about atlantis the sunken city was real. and normal people would be incredibly happy, i mean the medical facilites that atlantis his, could probably treat injuries we cant atm and so on...

but some people would probably break out in panic, because they would think that USa or someone would use atlantis to conquer earth, but thats not possible either since there are people from all over the world from the worlds strongest countries controlling it.

Don't forget 95% of people might be slightly pissed off about them keeping it a secret for so long.

Have I got this right if I say that in total, the Stargate series evolves around four galaxies?
We have SG1's galaxy which is called what exactly?
Then didn't the Asgard have their own galaxy too?
Then we have Atlantis in the Pegasus galaxy.
Then the Ori's galaxy, which are simply called the Ori Galaxy ?

So concerning Stargate Universe, the new series, it will evolve around the ninth chevron on the Stargate. The eighth symbol is used to travel to another galaxy and requires more power. Then the only logical thing to assume is that the ninth chevron will take you to another universe then? And since there is only one universe, it means we will have more of those parrallell world crap.

No I would have to say that its still an 8th chevron and not a 9nth one.

yeah, it could mean that they go all around the universe still using the 8th chevron.....although seeing as it was just the ancients and the ori that distributed the stargates around the universe i dont see how there could be too many gates in other galaxies.......unless the furlings decide to make an appearance

SG-1's galaxy is our galaxy called the milkyway. xD

i have a question about the ancients/ori/alterans

caution: slight spoiler below if you havent seen up to s8 of sg1 or any of atlantis

which galaxy did they originate in? was it the ori galaxy, then the milky way galaxy, then the pegasus galaxy then back to the milky way galaxy then they died of the plague?

Milkyway, is that not just our solar system? Or perhaps solar system is a galaxy. My astronomics is a bit withered, but I always thought a galaxy was a spiral of several different solar systems. That the milky way is just a spike out of a much bigger galaxy.

Anyways, NO, it is not about the eighth chevron. The directors has stated themselves that the Stargate Universe series will evolve around the NINTH CHEVRON. So stop denying it, that was the reason I made the entire post in the first place!

There are a total of nine chevrons on the gate. In SG1 we have been revealed to eight of them, while they usually just use seven because they only travel within our own galaxy.

And wasn't Othella the Asgards new planet which they saved from the replicators? I'm talking galaxy here. In the early seasons where O'neill had to build an additional power unit so they could dial the _eighth_ symbol to reach the Asgard galaxy? Using his ancient knowledge.

If I have learned correctly, the Alterans and the Ori, which are the same kind, originate from earth right? And because of the plague - was it? They made Atlantis and moved to Pegasus galaxy. The goa uld also refer to Earth as "the first planet". The first planet that has been populated by humans that is.

Our galaxy is called the "milkiway"
Solar system is just our planets and the sun

Oh yeah thats right.
Anyways, I just saw a great episode of season three Atlantis. Where McKay was going to ascend and became supersmart and powerful.

However, at the end of that episode, Ronan gave him a hug and made his "grr" sound. And I have to say, I really don't buy Ronan's "toughness". It's just so false and unnatural. His dark voice also sounds false.

The ancients lived first in our galaxy and here on earth yea, then they moved to atlantis to escape the plague, but then because of the war with the wraith they moved back here through the stargate and left atlantis at the bottom of the ocean.

Othalla was their galaxy, the new world was called Orilla.

Yeah thanks. So in total we've visited four galaxies.
When I heard of Stargate Universe for the first time. I imidiatly thought "the-stargate-universe" So in my mind that means the entire part of the universe that is populated by stargates. So this should include a broader view of things if you catch my drift. Not just every planet the ancients traveled to and placed stargates on, cause that would be alot, but a new way of seeing the total scheme of it all.

Cause if Stargate Universe just is gonna visit new planets like SG1 did, it will be too similiar. Personally I would prefer to imagine that Stargate Universe would be about millions of years ago, about the ancients, their evolution with advanced technology and populating the entire universe. And when you think of it, thats the only thing that makes sense.

Technically five.

In the episode Enemies Part 2 (series 5 episode 1) they start off in a distant galaxy and eventually due to the replicators modifying their ship are able to travel back. They get there after traveling through a hyperspace window just as a sun goes supernova in the galaxy they're in (they blew it up), and it caused the hyperspace window to go crazy.

If I had to guess (which I am) I would say that the galaxy in that episode is the Asgard Galaxy because the replicators had a hold there, the replicators had no reason for leaving that galaxy since they were winning the war.

and whats the history of the replicators? did the ancients make the human form replicators, then that little girl they brought back to the SGC make the bug form? or did the ancients make the bug form too?
