I'd make a guide how to get Adblock working with Firefox
1. Start with to set the correct settings, (push ctrl+shift+p) read more here.
2. Download the latest ad-filter and import it (newest from the bottom). Push ctrl+shift+p and go to "Adblock Options" - Import filers. Look for the .txt you saved to your HDD.
3. Go to a optional adsite like Washingtonpost. If the ads are still there, then push ctrl+shift+b, It changes between block or unblock. Good luck!
If you don't want the annoying status-icon:
1. Close Firefox.
2. Find the file userChrome.css. It should be placed in:
Quote:
X:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profilename\chrome\
If you don't find any, then create you own. But often there is a file named userChrome.css-example then delete -example and rename the fil. Then open the file and write:
Quote:
/* Remove the link in status bar for AdBlock extension */
statusbarpanel[id="adblock-status"] { display:none !important; }
3. Apply the settings and browse happier without ads.

Just a minor correction/adition:
Use this link to update your adblock filters: hxxp://www.pierceive.com.nyud.net:8090/filtersetg/
BTW, if someone wants my filters, i'll be glad to post them.
Thanks for this invaluable tutorial, Ingo111

Make sure you refresh the page after enabling/disabling adblock to see the changes.
The G list has moved to www.pierceive.com, which hanek posted about. Use the coral link he provided to save the guy's bw.
Nice job, though, never bothered looking into how to remove the status button, thanks.
