That would have to do with TBNotify not meeting Windows standards in regards to system tray icons. Apps that are compliant will readd themselves to the tray if you for example kill explorer.exe then run it again.
lol. i think you'll find TBNotify is fully "compliant" with the windows standard. kill explorer and see for yourself.
@AfghanEB what you are describing is obviously a windows issue, therefore nothing to do with tbnotify.

thanks so much for this programs ! this rox, this is how I thought tbLoader would be, but it was disappointing. But this is absolutely cool with this popup feature, it's low ressource consumption and it don't needs the fu**** MS .NET Framework.

look man, if you want to make your own torrent notifier, be my guest. but tbnotify was 100% designed and coded by me. so your on your own with this one.

Great app.
A question and a request if I can
How can I make IE auto open a torrent file with SP2. It keeps prompting me to open/save/cancel?
As a request. You have 2 options with a torrent file which are
a) download with default web browser
b) downloaf with TBNotify
Can you add a custom command lint to this so we can run a specific client
I know you have spent your free time on this and it is a superb app. Please dont flame me for making a request
Thanx for the help with the download problem...I had done half of it
Not having problems... its just if you got a favourite BT client then you could launch it from TBNotify to run the d/l
...yes, but tbnotify automatically launches the torrent (as does IE) using the application assigned to .torrent files. is that not already your favourite BT client?

Options > Preferences > Task and check "Do not prompt when add new task"
That should do it.

To the people having problems above with system tray icons not showing on startup and other odd systray problems - I recommend that you have a look at the site below as it may solve the missing icons that you are getting. I had all sorts of systray icons going missing on first bootup which was doing my head in..
hxxp://www.michna.com/kb/WxSystray.htm
Basically it comes down to the UpNp which is automatically running on machines that get patched with SP2 (on winXP)(go to My Network Places and choose hide UpNp devices and reboot, things work faultlessly since then.)
Cheers

While it's checking for new torrents, I can't right-click the tray icon.
But only after I right-click the tray and "Check for new torrents". I don't have this problem when it checks automatically.
And I can't connect. The tray says "Unable to fetch torrent feed. Check connection."
I disabled the firewall, so that's not the problem.
Read something about proxy in previous posts. I've never had any problems to connect to internet with any program with my ISP, so I don't even know what proxy is.
Can't search either, "Download Failed. Your torrent database could not be created."

sounds to me like you are in fact using a proxy (tbnotify does not support all types of proxies)
run this and see > hxxp://www.lagado.com/proxy-test

Nope, no proxy. Yes, I also did the cache test. I did everything they told me to do, no proxy.
<edit>
Haha. Just ignore everything I said. Even the small bug that you can't right click on the tray icon. Everything works perfectly now, and the program gets the torrent-list even faster than I thought when I decided to download it.
A small tip: if something doesn't work without a reason, restart computer.
I don't want to do it very often because it for some reason takes so long time to shut down Windows. But now I tried it and it solved all problems. I should try that more often =)
And I'd also like to open the options when double-clicking the tray icon.
</edit>

can you tell me a little more about how you connect to the net?
and are you ABSOLUTELY sure that a firewall isnt blocking tbnotify? tbnotify doesnt require any ports to be open, but will need to be granted access by any software firewalls.

I tried the information suggested on that web page, and surely enough, hiding the UPnP devices seems to have resolved the random system tray icon problem. I should probably test it some more since I've only restarted once since making the change, but so far it's looking good. Thanks for the tip!
