I would Pay $5- 10 AUD a mnth Like I am allready Paying $130 a mnth for a ADSL 1.5 : 256 80 gig download here in AU whats another $5 ... Mind you * that by the 45 000 Users thats a lot of $$$$ ... So I am Sure $1 a mnth would be heaps the the OP's 2 Spend
I was Running my Own Tracker in QLD Charging $2 a mnth with 600 Users( Pipe User's Only Free Usage Data For them Most LEECHED 100 gig  a mnth for $2 was a Dreaam come tru  for them   ( Covered the 2 Tel Lines and 2 * 512:512  ADSL connections plus Electric and HDD Space to Stash All the Rar's ( But that was with Me SEEDING the DATA to Start With ... unlike a Basic Tracker that all it does is UPLOAD the Torrent Files

I chosed " Not intrested!"

But if I had an stabil income, I could pay like $10, but not so much more!

#216640 by unknown[68090] at 2005-05-27 08:07:55 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

I suspect it would be completely useless to me. Because the majority of the stuff I download are multiple $1000 apps. for the prices listed, I wouldn't expect to see any of these apps here. Hell I've downloaded single apps that cost in the neighborhood of $10,000 - $15,000+ each, from many sites.

To tell you the truth I do not completely justify what we are doing here, but in the case of the above, If I had that much money to blow, I suppose I would buy it. After all there are many advantages to legal apps. However I do D/L inexpensive things also.:-)

I'm a broke ass, (not an excuse) even another $20 a month bill would stress my budget. :-(

I would pay around $15, but only if I didnt have to play the ratio game. As it is now I wouldn't pay anything

What would the site be about then?

Taking money for what Torrentbytes is now, is a sure way to get the attention of the police/MPAA/etc. The staff would end up in jail.

You haven't read any of these prior posts, have you.
Man I'm really gonna have to spell this out..

WE ARE NOT GOING TO BECOME A PAY-SITE. IT IS A HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION.

THE MONEY WOULD GO TO PAY THE ROYALTIES.

Which basically means that the groups would not be the ones that supply us with the stuff.

This is a hypothetical question. If the laws and attitudes of the ones that make the software/music/movies/etc would change so that the prices would go down a bit making it possible to buy these forms of licenses.

Only reason we use our own site as the example is so that you guys know what kind of service would be provided by this hypothetical site. As I said, we are NOT going to become a site like this - this is just a poll about would A site like that be possible or not.

To answer your question: This hypothetical site would be about getting you stuff the legal way. About being able to download the latest movies/stuff without worrying about if "the police gonna bust down my door and I'm gonna have to use the giant magnets I have to wipe my harddrives".

I just think it's incredible. All those people in the forums were afraid about getting caught, tB going down or just that the police would get them for seeding a lot. Still, a vast majority thinks that paying even the smallest amount of money to get this service is a waste of money.

I just hope that the people didn't think we were talking about money going to staff. We were talking about paying the royalties, making the stuff legal to download and use.

IF the site stayed the exact same as it is now, but everything just went legal, i'd easily pay 11-20$, maybe even more.
but it'd require that nothing was changed (except maybe the ratio, like someone previously said, the cost could be affected by ones ratio)

Yeah, I never really thought of that, but that's a good idea (just forgot to quote it).

With a better ratio the monthly payment would go down etc. It would kinda be the opposite of pay-to-leech like some sites have now, you wouldn't have to pay as much cause you let others leech.

And of course, for the ones wondering about it, a site like this would not have a manditory ratio limit.

And also, I may add, this whole hypothetical situation would require two major changes:
  • lower prices and newer forms of licenses
  • A better protocol than the current one (with references to how easy it would be to cheat)
  • #216767 by unknown[7421] at 2005-05-27 10:13:42 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

well if the quallity stays then i would pay 100$ pr. year, but only if there is still many users but, if TB goes legial then what will happen with all the 0 day and stuff like that..?

    #216780 by unknown[19628] at 2005-05-27 10:23:22 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

Sure I would pay like 20eur or something, that isnīt much and I could easily give that money if I knew what I will get in return. The movies, games, music and if it would be legal then hell yes I would pay for this site

You wouldn't have to worry about legal issues nor about the site being put down by authorities.

If that happend, then I almost for sure would support it, I dunno how much I would pay.

But thats like dreaming about that Bill Gates is gonna give you 50% of his money. It's not gonna happen.

If the stuff was legal the $10 - $30  would be great...Just as they have done with the muisc unlimited downloads for a flat free ?
This is ok for now but as internet connections get faster and faster they will not like this flat fee idea...just as the uk's ISP's did not like us all staying connected 24hours a day on a unlimited dial-up and now on adsl accounts and started capping times and downloads lol (when is unlimited not unlimited ...When someone can screw you for more dosh)
The film industry are already testing internet 2 which has the power to tranfer a whole film in dvd quility in under 2 sec's ....WOW...
Now can you see them allowing a flat free for unlimited downloads if we could download that fast ?? NO Way.
They will still force us to pay over priced fee's for it .....no matter what and there will always be some of us that wont pay when we can have it for nothing...THATS LIFE....

Good idear!!! < if we share everything equally... :-P

edit: (the profit) beside it not being achievable yet, we would lose al our profit :-(
And that were if this was a completly legal service. which it is offcource in my opnion.

If it was legal and if the 0-Day thing was removed I could  pay up to $30-50 but as it is now (0-Day) and legal $0-20 would be a nice price

Looks like a change could be on the way based on this poll, people still use napster now you have to pay and the site owner are not taking any risks and making a mint. But if this was to happen on this site, then I would be with the majority and not bother.
