Id pay 15 to 20 but may even go up to 50/month. It would be an awsome service if it existed. Of course only if legal. And I dont want any time periods.

Don't think so. Paying for something while I can get for free...

If u (TB staff) want to make this a paid service just tell it, donīt come with stupid polls.

And yes Iīve readed this:

No. We are not going commercial, ever. This is just a survey. Topics asking if this is gonna happen will get locked with a reference to this post.

Rather strange choice for a poll imo

I wouldn't pay for a service like this (voulantry donations are a different matter)....i'd just find an alternative site that was free.....hence why i'm here now and not at napster or similar sites :-)

#216250 by unknown[1266] at 2005-05-27 01:20:49 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

one more thing I forgot to add to my list of things ones gets with the legal version,

You wouldn't have to worry about legal issues nor about the site being put down by authorities.

It is very interesting that they would create a poll such as this when my second favorite site ET has just died. Just for everyone reference i looked it up on the fbi website and it really was them that shut ET down. they werent just running away with money. anyways getting back on topic i agree with many others. donations are one thing but to be required to pay for something i can get free anywhere else seems a little too far.

I think I'd pay somewhere around 20-50 dollars for a service like this.

For this I'd get:

  • music that doesn't even hit the stores here
  • movies with comments and direct links to imdb
  • virtually unlimited supply of games
  • musicvideos without Jamba commercials
  • latest apps for a fraction of the real cost
  • ebooks without ordering real book (prefer ebooks over real books)

Not to mention I get all of these as soon as they are released and some of them even before that.

I'd say 50 bucks is actually quite cheap for that, the Propellerheads software alone cost more than that.

  • If really highquality scans of the manuals / fronts / covers and so on was included. Then yes I would pay around $20-$30 depending on how rich I am atm.

Yeah and if it was legal and a ratio system that works. Maybe cheaper monthly cost depending on your ratio. So people would actually seed stuff. Maybe:
Ratio lower than 1, 50 dollars a month
    Ratio between 1-2, 40 dollars a month
    Ratio more than 2 , 30 dollars a month

no legal service could ever provide half of the stuff that TB provides.

    #216451 by unknown[10381] at 2005-05-27 04:24:02 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

as long as it was legal and everything was in formats that I could really do things with (dvds I can burn on to a dvd and music I can do whatever I want with) then I would be willing to pay up to 100 bucks a month because thats about how much I spend on movies and games anyway.

But I would never pay for illegal stuff.

    #216483 by unknown[52381] at 2005-05-27 05:03:04 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

If I get a unique cd key that works online with each game I download, I'd pay 50$.

    otherwise, I'd pay nothing.

Exactly.  Even if you pay royalties to the music, movie, software companies, it still wouldn't be legal.  Unless you cut the content of those not willing to have their materials available on the site.  Which would be a large number of them.  Why should they get a few cents/bucks from this site when they can get full retail elsewhere?

And why should I pay to get something that I can get for free.  The reason I'm a member on this site is for convenience.  Why do I want to go all around hunting down the releases I want if I can simply get them here.  But I do have other sources (some BT, some not) that I could easily switch to if this site were to become a pay service.

    #216549 by unknown[15228] at 2005-05-27 06:14:00 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

$11-20 cause it's the best i can do

    #216551 by unknown[65290] at 2005-05-27 06:15:33 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

I wouldn't mind paying $11-20, probably on the lower end of that spectrum.  Why?  Because it's fast, and it's got a wide selection.  You don't have leechers if you have a paysite, people know to seed and they're not afraid of getting caught for seeding.

Plus, I probably don't have to go out and buy something because of feeling guilty, as I'll have it legitimately from the site.  ++.

    #216557 by unknown[51953] at 2005-05-27 06:25:35 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

I'd would easily pay 11-20 USD for a legal service like this. All the movies, games, music, apps etc that you want is totally worth it.
