If torrentbytes was a commercial and legal service, how much would you pay for it per month?

  • Not intrested!
  • $0-10
  • $11-20
  • $21-50
  • $51-100
  • $100+

No. We are not going commercial, ever. This is just a survey. Topics asking if this is gonna happen will get locked with a reference to this post.

    Now, discuss the opinions.

    Zero ~ nada ~ null.

    Paying for warez is lame.

    #216015 by unknown[1266] at 2005-05-26 23:08:40 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

What if it wasn't warez and the costs would go to cover the royalty payments?

Well, then it is just like real, yahoo, etc...

There is a reason why I am here and not there

(this is mostly for music, I realize. Don't dl much else anyway)

    #216040 by habbekrats (Power User) at 2005-05-26 23:15:05 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

sorry guys. I wouldn't pay for it.

If i can't get it for free, i just won't get it at all.

    #216044 by atiko (Power User) at 2005-05-26 23:18:13 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

IF it would be legal and I would get the same stuff as I am getting right now, I could pay about 10 to 15 $ per month.

    Out of the question.
If TB would cost money i would go to another site. Maybe a worse site than TB, but paying for warez makes no sense.

    #216074 by unknown[87711] at 2005-05-26 23:33:36 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

$11-20 is what I said, becuase if it had all that we have now, and most likely no wait/easier to seed/ect, it'd be worth it. But still, tB going commerical would be very bad, so thank god it isn't.

    #216075 by unknown[1266] at 2005-05-26 23:33:40 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

I think I'd pay somewhere around 20-50 dollars for a service like this.

    For this I'd get:

  • music that doesn't even hit the stores here
  • movies with comments and direct links to imdb
  • virtually unlimited supply of games
  • musicvideos without Jamba commercials
  • latest apps for a fraction of the real cost
  • ebooks without ordering real book (prefer ebooks over real books)

Not to mention I get all of these as soon as they are released and some of them even before that.

I'd say 50 bucks is actually quite cheap for that, the Propellerheads software alone cost more than that.

I would only pay if i didnt have to seed back.

    #216085 by unknown[994] at 2005-05-26 23:38:22 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

why..would just go to shop and steal it

    #216090 by unknown[3653] at 2005-05-26 23:39:46 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

wouldent pay a cent! not to be cheap, but the site would have to improve many times before i would start paying for it.

as for warez the site works perfectly...

    #216092 by unknown[51148] at 2005-05-26 23:39:48 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

If it had a monthly fee like napster, like 12 bucks per month i could pay for it to cover server costs, and royalty costs.... but i know that if this site were comercial it would have to be hundreds of dollars per month, so i don't see that ever becoming a reality. ( not that you inteded it to be or anything)

    #216108 by unknown[82855] at 2005-05-26 23:50:42 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

I could easily pay 21-50 dollars for it, if it meant that I could burn a music CD or DVD and it would count as a legal one.

    #216110 by unknown[809] at 2005-05-26 23:51:30 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

    I would not pay.

    #216117 by unknown[59655] at 2005-05-26 23:54:35 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

I would pay $10 , although i wouldnt view it as paying for stuff, but to maintain the servers etc.

STUPID poll, its kinda obvious that everyone would pick everything in that order,  the more money = the less interested, change poll quick, please!!!

    #216128 by Autosol (User) at 2005-05-26 23:59:52 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

If it was comercial it probably wouldnt cost anything..

Of course it's obious. We're asking where the line goes.

    FlyEdit:
    @Autosol:
    Commercial as in "making profit"

    #216133 by unknown[2584] at 2005-05-27 00:03:52 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

most of the things I download I don't really need.

So if I had to pay, I wouldn't.

Probably I would buy warez and this stuff in the streets. (In Brazil we find this things in EVERYwhere... LOL)

    #216138 by unknown[902] at 2005-05-27 00:06:24 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

I'd probably pay about $20-ish for the service.

That's assuming ratios wouldn't really be an issue, and that the speeds would be good.

    #216160 by twatpack (Power User) at 2005-05-27 00:23:44 (8 years ago) - [Report]Top

In no way would I be interested.. Warez should never be payed for.. period.
